I have come down with gastroperisis and it is keeping my sugar up. this is where stomach is not emptying out cause the nerves and muscles are not working any more caused by diabetes. As long as I don't eat bg goes down to where I like it. One good thing has come out of this is I've lost 35 pounds.I'm not loosing it fast about 2 lbs a week and that's how I want to loose weight. the only thing is I can't eat certain foods like green beans broccoli; etc. things you can eat for diabetes is not good for this. I'm writing down what I eat and if it bothers me ;don't eat it anymore. Thanks for prayers

I’m trying to ahere to the Diabetic diet guidelines set by my diabetic health care person. Today I saw a gastroenterologist who sad my stomach and intestines don’t work hardly at all and told me to follow that diet. Between the two diets I basically can’t eat anything. I’m depressed over it. I don’t feel like anyone understands and they don’t care. So at this point I feel hopeless and on my way out. I want to go to sleep and not wake up if this is all that’s left for me. I follow one diet then the other problem gets worse. I don’t follow any diet the problem gets worse, I starve then the problem gets fatal. I loose no matter what I do.

I'm sorry you are having these problems. I was told by my doctor about a year ago that I might have gastro as well. I just haven't had any tests yet. I can no longer eat most raw vegetables. They just cause way too many problems like pain, gas, and too many bathroom visits. I also suffer from frequent nausea. There are days when I am better off just taking in liquids. I feel for you. Hope you can find a way to handle it that helps

I am so sad to hear of this. With good control, will the use of the muscles come back? Is there a treatment for it?

watch diet very closely and try to keep sugar down. one works against the other. if it gets really bad there is a surgery for it. I'm working hard on diet. I'm not sure of that.

I hope you can make it work with diet. I would not want to have surgery myself on any part of my gut....no way.

Howdy Rhett
So very sorry to hear you're having this problem.

Surgery is only one option as this article by Mayo Clinic indicates ~ http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions...

There is something I stumbled across a while ago about the use of coca-cola to possibly dissolve bezoars, ~ http://www.diabeticconnect.com/diabetes-discu... Supposedly "diet" coke works too.

Thanks for info. I am taking reglan before each meal right now and eating small amounts. It seems to be helping. If all else fails I'll have the surgery
