I have been very sick for the last 2 weeks. It started with migraine headaches, stomach issues, and bronchitis. I got very weak and was experiencing shortness of breath. I had not eaten much of anything for 2 days. My husband took me to the ER and I was given IV antibiotics and breathing treatments for 24 hours. It wasn't the flu but sure felt like it. I could barely hold my head up. I lost 4 pounds. Good part was my BG stayed in the 80's-90's. I am still not well but at least I can get up without the room spinning.

I do hope your feeling better. By the way, mom's worry no matter what :) so take care of yourself and don't stress. Stress helps no one.

I am sorry to hear you are suffering so. Did they find out what is causing your issues?

BreC 2015-03-04 16:22:21 -0600 Report

They didn't really put a label on the problem but treated me for upper respiratory infection. Living with COPD puts me at easily getting colds and such. My son was sick before I got sick and I probably got it from him. Got some bleach and I'm going to do some heavy cleaning and disinfecting as soon as I get some of my strength back.

Why would your family not be doing that for you to get the germs out now?

I haven't told some of the family. I am afraid that someone will let it slip to my mother and I don't want her to worry about me.

Ok, I get that. I don't tell my mom either things that go on with me, unless they are good things. She's 80, so I don't need to burden her either.

When I broke my shoulder 3 yrs ago, for some reason, I did not want to tell my mom. 60 yrs old and did not want to tell mom! Lol

I'm a respiratory therapist and we have had a lot of the so called non-flu. Problem is that if they do the rapid test it has 80% false neg.
I do hope you feel better soon!

I have COPD and along with other medical issues they thought it was best to attack the breathing right away. My heart rate got up to 180 and blood pressure was 174/120. I don't like going to the ER but sometimes it is just necessary.

I'm sorry you were so sick and I'm glad you are on the mend. Great that your glucose didn't go crazy. That was a real blessing. I dread getting sick because of what happens to my glucose. Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Rest when sick is so important, even if you aren't diabetic.
