Today is a "cheat day" of sorts for me
Yep…I am going to Cheesecake factory…getting myself an Atkins cheesecake…and just eating a few slices…I deserved it..so sick of the balancing act I play with my diet…trying to squeeze everything in…everyone needs a break every once in a while…I can have a piece for lunch and a piece for dinner and still stay under my carb limits for the day…today is a no veggie MONDAY…today is cheesecake and coffee…there is always tomorrow for me to worry about eating enough leafy greens…

just recently found out that the Cheesecake Factory was a real restaurant and not just a place made up for The Big Bang Theory
(I don't get out much)
Steve
right!! I do this sometimes too
Jibber Jabber, that sounds good. I love Cheesecake Factory! I don't have one where I live but whenever I am traveling to someplace where they have one, I try to get there.
Good for you!!! I usually allow myself one dessert a week. Usually a scoop of ice cream. If I make cake, I try to make something that my family will like but I will not like. My hubby's employees love it because I send most of the cake to the store so it does not stay here and tempt me. I hope that you enjoyed your cheesecake.
I just picked out a mint cheesecake recipe I will be making this week. YUM. They are one of the few treats I let myself enjoy because I make them as low carb as I can and the protein in them is good stuff. Isn't mint a leafy green? LOL
The nearest cheesecake factory for me is over 2 hours away. I hope you enjoyed your cheesecake. I'll have to check out the atkins cheesecake next time I go into the city !!!!
When I know that I am going to Cheesecake Factory with friends for dinner, I take a Premier Protein Shake for breakfast, a small lunch with lots of protein, and then my dinner consists of a slice of cheesecake (I admit I don't eat the dinner part of the meal and often take home half of the cheesecake and never eat the crust). Jibber, I totally understand eating Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. And while I like some of the more exotic types of cheesecake, I stick with the plain New York style fluffy cheesecake. Yummy!!!
Hi Jib Jab,
Wish there was a cheesecake factory inn my area but there Ian't. If
there were I would join you in that cheat day. But I'll have to wait until I move to 'Vegas or they build one here. Enjoy your sort of cheat day. …when you can get Atkins Cheesecake..That's so totally awesome.
Enjoy my friend…you do deserve this is your special day…
hmmmmm— yes I do that once in a great while - I live with an elderly aunt and kind of have to eat what's on the table and yet I have managed to lose 50 lbs- soooo I think if this works for you — so be it — one thing - I have been a T2 Diabetic for maybe 15 yrs now— if I had known that the awful things that diabetes can cause ? takes abt 10-12 yrs to show up? I would have done things a lot differently — I now have controlled Glaucoma- and stage 3 Kidney disease — sooo check out the ravages of Diabetes with your doctor and go accordingly - bec you can't go back — I regret it —
Wow, it is amazing what diabetes can do to your body. I found out about my diagnosis in May 2014 and it scared me very much. So much so that I worked really hard to lose weight by exercising and watching my food. I thought, darn, I should have done this when I was prediabetes for years but you can woulda/coulda/shoulda yourself to death and what would it do for you, absolutely nothing. Thank you for your post and warning to us.
Every once in a while I have a cheat "meal". IF I am going to have dessert, it is usually cheesecake because it seems to have less of an impact than other desserts. Sometimes it's a little bit o ice cream. If that cheat meal goes well, I might have a second cheat meal that day, usually on Thanksgiving or other holiday. For the most part I only allow 1 meal to be a cheat the rest of the time. I can usually get away with that without too big of an impact on my glucose for the day.
I did not know that The Cheesecake Factory had a low carb cheesecake. Hmmm. Next month is our 35th anniversary. I wonder if there is a Cheesecake Factory near where we will be staying… :~)
My doctor say when you crave for anything go ahead and have it as your body is telling you it is lacking something ( sorry jibber your body does not lack cheesecake just some carbs. ) I have since started feeding my craving a bit too often. Enjoy your "cheat " day.
I checked with my wife … "cheat days" are not allowed (applies to my "diet", smoking and drinking as well)
always listen to your wife…they are never wrong..wink wink…
I don't crave carbs at all…I can sit in front of a pile of cookies and cake and not have any desire to eat any of it.and I have on many occasions…I have a metric ton of girl scout cookies in the house right now…don't want them…if it were carbs I was craving they would do fine…I just like cheesecake..and atkins cheesecake has very few carbs…really just that simple…
Boy does that sound good. So, which one are you going to indulge in? And do you need company? You know I'll pick-up the check!
They only have one low carb cheesecake on the menu…only 4 grams of net carbs…and it is flipping fantastic…when I "cheat"..I never really cheat…I know better..when I say cheat it means throwing nutrition to the wind for the day…I make cheesecake at home but they are usually
no bake no crust cheese cakes..Cheese cake factory has one baked with a nut crust…just wish the hubby would wake up..he is my chauffer…but if you think you can make it down here before he wakes by all means LEAVE NOW!!!!!
Unless he sleeps like a bear (e.g., hibernates), I am betting that he will wake before I arrive!
maybe not…he worked 20 hours straight and has only been sleeping for 6 hours…I will just wake him up at three..9 hours is enough…he can always go to bed early tonight..he is off from work…
Enjoy!
Yes, cheesecake is a carb-friendlier option than many other desserts would be! (Maybe not fat-wise or calorie-wise but I don't generally count either fats or calories.) Enjoy!
I'm keto…fat is my best friend…fat and salt…yeah I live in a parallel universe…
have a slice for me … I'm fasting today :(
Steve
Fasting..in any form is an excellent way to treat insulin resistance…cyber high five!!!

16 hour fast every day, one 24 hour fast every week.
good for the body, good for the soul
It doesn't bother your glucose levels. I use to fast once a week with my hubby but we stopped when I was diagnosed and taking insulin because I'd get lightheaded. Now, I am off insulin so I may try again.
I'm on metformin only … my numbers on 16 hour fast days are great, 90's upon waking (7:30) and around 85 before I eat at 2 pm … but I really no longer test regularly but on 24-hour fasts I do and will break the fast is if I get to 80 which is rare but happens
Steve.
Thanks for all the info, Steve. I'm really interested in doing this again. What is your 16 hour fast like?
I eat "lunch" at 2 pm and try to consume the majority of my daily carbs then … high protein and high fiber … at about 5:30 I eat a large green salad with a dressing high in fats (or raw vegetables with dip). Dinner is between 7 - 8 and normally chicken in some form with vegetables. If I "snack" it will be cheese and or nuts and on rare occasions a pear or an apple.
I have a variety of food choices I swap out but follow the same basic pattern every day (other than the weekly 24-hour fast that I usually try to do on the weekend)
Works for me … once you get into the habit it really isn't hard … I usually have to be reminded that it is time to eat as I seldom get hungry any more.
Steve
Bravo. ENJOY yourself. Since you will still be under your daily carb allowance, I would not even consider that cheating. A little indulgence is healthy for the mind and spirit.
