Ok. Here it is 7:00 Sunday night and I have not eaten and don't really want to eat .. I don't feel bad or anything, just not very hungry. Had a very small lunch and no snacks and definitely not enough to drink. Guess I'd better get busy on that. Anybody else have those kind of days?

I used to feel that way. I could go 2 1/2 days without eating and still not be hungry, or just be so busy that I'd go 2 days and forget I hadn't eaten. Now it's the total opposite, I feel hungry all the time, even a short time after I've eaten. … with my bg as high as it is I've often wondered why I'm so hungry.

If you are taking a fast acting insulin you should be taking it within 10-15 mins before meals. Long acting insulin is once or twice a day. What are you taking?

When I first started this journey, I was always hungry too. I may be wrong, but I think because your body is adjusting to lower levels, but your bg is still too high, it makes you hungry, even though you are eating right. First you get used to it and then you don't notice it so much. A lot of people here who eat better than I do say if you eat the right things, you won't be hungry. You could start a discussion and ask the general membership. Most everyone here knows more than I do about it.

Never have a lack of appetite but unable to eat a whole meal since bariatric surgery. So instead, no matter what, I eat three meals and three snacks.

My problem is that I can't seem to get all eight 8 oz glasses of water into my body in one day.

I don't feel like I have a choice in the liquid issue. I must drink to keep everything hydrated, especially my kidneys. If I am not hydrated my kidneys have to work harder and may lose more function. I cannot take the chance.

I took my insulin shot so I would have to eat something. I could feel the bg dropping so had my go-to cottage cheese dish that I try to always keep on hand and some p-nut butter crackers.

Yes me! I'm not hungry at all. I can get down and meal at night, but no breakfast or snacks. The only good thing is I drink a lot of water. But I know its not good for me to only eat dinner, and that's a very small amount, because my stomach starts hurting me after I eat.

I have a lot of days when I am not hungry come dinner time, but that is when i take my evening insulin so i make sure I eat something. Usually if nothing else I will eat a few spoonfuls of chicken or egg salad. Just to get some protein and fat in me. I try not to eat too much if I'm not really hungry.

This happens to me often. It can be very frustrating. I often just resort to a smoothie. If it is at a time when I take my meds, I make sure it's a larger, thicker smoothie.

What do you put in your smoothiesmoothie?

Pegsy 2015-03-02 13:31:58 -0600 Report

Almond milk, cottage cheese or plain yogurt, peanut butter, part of a banana and/or Stevia to sweeten. Sometimes I add some cocoa powder for flavor and ground flax seed for extra fiber. Thinking about adding some spinach or kale as I am told you don't really taste either one.

Did you not see that it contains banana? You asked. I told you. I like it. You don't have to make it if you don't want to. I have to greatly limit my fruit intake. Perhaps you don't.

I'm going to try it. I'm sorry if I offended you. I don't know what I can and can't have. I had a doctor tell me I had diabetes then one week later I got a letter stating he didn't want me as a patient anymore. So I don't have an internal medicine doctor nor am I on any medication I don't know what to eat. When you mentioned smoothies, you got my attention. I think on my part if was the cottage cheese part in the smoothie, but I see you mentioned …or yogurt. I'm so sorry again!

Occasionally I have times when I don't feel like eating, but not very often. I feel really bad when I don't eat. I get dizzy and see spots. I now call it seeing dalmatians. My husband now knows exactly what is wrong when I say that.

I get dizzy also and my eyes get all blurry with colors, and I have Glaucoma. But I'm still not on any medicine!

Been there…dinner time comes and I am not hungry…But I take my meds at night with dinner…so even if I am not hungry I have to eat something..usually a small green salad and some protein…tonight I was hungry because I had my usual breakfast shake in the morning…but had a very light lunch…so dinner came and I threw half an avocado on my salad along with some blue cheese…yep just because we are diabetic doesn't mean we still don't have days when we don't feel much like eating…

Breakfast is only the most important meal of the day if that is how you manage your diet…I was never a big breakfast eater..hate eating in the morning…my body just rejects solid foods…I want to eliminate it all together…I drink breakfast shakes now…but want to start intermittent fasting and skip breakfast all together…but I am running across mixed research when it comes to this kind of fasting and how it affects women…much info is telling me it has negatives in women that do not exist in men… for now breakfast continues..
