Started 2008-06-20 22:17:47 -0500 I was "venting" I was falling apart..begging for care..and after all the E.R. visit for dehydration..i was fed up!and broke..I put it all aside kept getting sicker, loosing a size in 2-3 days, clothes fell off me i was at 110lbs when I was ordered to come into the DEFACS and drug test..Not because of a record but because I offered the info. that I was an addict yrs prior. I was so angry..passed the urine tests and then a hair kept explaining how i knew there was something wrong..I knew it, but I didnt see how bad I was until I was pulled over by a trooper, for the second time on suspected dui..I was lost, but how do u get lost w/in 3 miles of your house?
It was there on the side of the road, shaking, confused and terrified that I said to myself."somethings really wrong"
I was terrified..

a truely heroing story that kind of stuff is scary I'm glad you were properly diagnosed.. We had taken my son to the doctor and the ER a number of times for various problems such as what appeared to be siezures vomiting severe attitude changes from giggling to screaming and fear. None of these times did they test for Diabetes; not once. Finally the day after Thanksgiving I sent Tristen with my sister-n-law to longview, TX which is about 4 hours away. They said by the time he got there he was in a full blown diabetic seizure. That's how I found out.. A call from CPS telling me that my 14 month old baby is being careflighted to Children's Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He was misdiagnosed 3-4 times and he almost died for it. Just goes to show that ANY time you think something is wrong and people don't belive you.. You need to find better people.

Garb I shiver at the thought of what could have happened to your baby. My cousin was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 2 and they only found out what she had when she was brought in the ER unconcious. This was at least 60 years ago. You would think that it would have gotten much better by now. But it proves my point. I never thought nor believe that doctors are gods. They do not know your body, they only can guess of what you are feeling, and sometimes, our description does not really enlighten the docs really well, words escape us and they can only go by what we say. I also had a nephew who died 2 years ago. He had complained of a headache for years and nobody paid attention to him. The ER said that he was abusing the system because he had no money to pay. They never did a scan, never did any kind of test. 1 week later he was dead. So don't let those people dressed in white think that they are God. The difference between them and God is that God does not think he's a doctor.

Al I can say is WOW! It is alarming that it sometimes takes so long to get the proper diagnoses. I'm happy to hear you are on the right track now.
As you already have learned by now, we are a community of people who DO understand what this is all about. I'm glad you found us!! Please keep us updated on your progress.
