My daughter called and needed to go into work for a couple hours…so I shoot over her house..just a few blocks away..put in my grandma duty with the kids…then went home…My son was cooking dinner…and it was almost finished..NY strip steaks with a side of avocado top with sour cream…along with a cup of coffee with cacao and whipped cream…he said it was between the flavored coffee and a salad with dinner…he smiled and said cacao has just as many health benefits as spinach…life is good…

Hi JibJab,
What a awesome son you have. To not only be on Atkins with you but to cook for you as well. Your very fortunate to have such a supportive son. VL

You are incredibly fortunate. So many of us struggle with family members who won't get on board with a diabetic friendly diet. Your son rocks and you should let him know just how unique and special he is in our little world.

He is just shit giggly happy..He just started the LSU nursing program and was 20 pounds overweight…he thinks it is very NOT cool to be an overweight health care professional…so he went on atkins to drop the 20 pounds..he dropped that and a little more..he loves the diet so much he just decided to keep eating that way..he gets way more carbs than I do…he can eat almost 100 a day and still maintain…but he likes to skirt the outer limits of ketosis and eat about 60…he is good there..and yeah I am blessed I have FOUR extra ordinary kids..
