My fasting blood sugars are the highest of the day. Any tips to bring it down?

What are your normal numbers for your fasting blood glucose?

I suspect you may be having the dawn effect. When I was having high fasting numbers I asked my Dr about them and he suggested that I take my BG numbers just before bedtime and if I have a BG number below 130 that I should eat a graham cracker square with some peanut butter on it. I followed his advice and my fasting BG came down closer to normal.

What I understand is that the blood glucose drops during the night and your liver dumps glycogen into your bloodstream. That explains the high AM reading. The protein in the peanut butter digests most of the night and keeps one's BG above the level where your body senses the need to dump glycogen into your bloodstream.

God's best to you
