Oh what a day I had yesterday…it was my grandson's 7th Birthday and also Mardi Gras down here..So we gave my grandson a huge Mardi Gras themed birthday party…It was insane..between decorating..cooking…( I was put in charge of the red beans and rice because know one makes it as good as I do)…playing the hostess to dozens of guest and insane amounts of children…and then the clean up…I felt every once of energy drain from my body…My son in law was the sweetest thing ever and make sure there was plenty of keto food available..grilled baby lamb chops..chicken kabobs..salad and grilled veggies…but I had no time to eat but a few bites…STRESS STRESS STRESS..coupled with grumbling tummy syndrome (from not eating) is a bad combo for me…buy the end of the night I was at 146…holy crap 146!!!…I don't do numbers like this anymore…in the previous three weeks I didn't go over 122 even after eating…my son made me a big giant cup of keto coffee about 9 oclock…it filled my belly..didn't add any carbs or protein to my diet and within an hour I was back down to 115…nice…I ate later after the cleaning was done…but have learned how to stop my BG from shooting up when I am in the middle of chaos…which is always a great thing to learn…Today I do nothing but sleep…sleep and relax…the world can stay on hold for 24 hours…

Wow, it sounds like a great day. I hope you get lots of rest, today. My grandson's birthday is tomorrow. He will be 8 years old. We're taking him out to eat at his favorite restaurant. What is keto coffee?

Keto coffee is something I try to stay away from…I tried it once before just to try it…but my son who is not diabetic drinks it every morning…he takes hot coffee, coconut oil..butter..some splenda and a dash of cream and throws it in the blender for about 15 seconds…makes a yummy creamy fat filled coffee that taste just as good as any premium latte you would get at a high end coffee house…it adds a lot of fat to your diet..enough to wipe out hunger for hours..and the fat is beneficial when you are on a keto diet..The reason I tend to stay away from it is not because I feel it is harmful.. but rather because I try to make sure my diet is as balanced as possible while maintaining ketosis…a pure fat meal devoid of any protein and zero carbs from veggies or fruit is NOT my idea of balanced…but it sure served it's purpose yesterday..my son is not diabetic..and on the maintenance phase of Atkins…so he has a little more wiggle room than I do…can eat way more carbs than I do…and eats much more frequently..so he can have his keto coffee everyday..no harm no foul…and to tell you the truth I didn't get nearly enough fat in my dinner yesterday…eating mostly grilled chicken kabobs and salad…so the fat was welcomed..

Very interesting. Today I suffered a mild low while we were out and about because I didn't eat and had a very low carb breakfast. This sounds like it could be useful on long days. What kind of proportions are used?

He puts two cups of coffee along with one tablespoon each of coconut oil and butter…splenda to taste and the normal amount of cream you would use in that particular amount of coffee…mind you Gabby I am NOT endorsing this drink in any way..especially to people who are not keto…but if you wish to experiment …you know how much I love experiments…hee hee…please let us know the outcome…but you need to remember that people on keto diets are fat adapted…we burn fat for fuel and not carbs…so I can function perfectly fine on keto coffee..I don't know if others who are not keto can do the same..

I am not keto, but I do eat low carb and full fat at home. The coconut oil got my attention and you are the second person I had heard of putting it in coffee. I don't know that I would do it a lot, but, like you, I love my experiments too. LOL

Sounds like a wonderfully, crazy, stressful birthday celebration. I hope you get a full day of rest and relaxation in today.
