Wine Is Not the Only Drink That's Good For You!

Interview with 101 year-old Hattie Mae MacDonald of Feague, Kentucky:

Joke I got on e-mail. LOL

Reporter: Can you give us some health tips for reaching the age of 101?

Hattie: For better digestion I drink beer.

In the case of appetite loss I drink white wine.

For low blood pressure I drink Red Wine.

In the case of high blood pressure I drink scotch.

And when I have a cold I drink Schnapps.

Reporter: When do you drink water?

Hattie: I've never been that sick

While I revel in Hattie's approach to life and living, she probably didn't have to deal with diabetes…
Thanks for sharing this RebDee!

I think she was probably the healthiest 101 year old on the face of the Earth. Some people have all the luck.
Personally, I feel lucky that I have Diabetes. It has forced me to learn how to eat, exercise, and set goals. I feel lucky because my little sister has Multiple Sclerosis and is confined to a wheel chair. Both are supposed to be genetic diseases. I can go back in my family history and find many relatives with Diabetes but absolutely none with Multiple Sclerosis. So where did it come from?

You're right…as chronic diseases go, diabetes is one where we can exercise some good control by watching what we eat and how we exercise. I have a friend whose husband has been given about 2 months to live. He's had Parkinson's for the past 15 years but has lost much ground and his body is wearing out. Another friend's 73 year old husband has been diagnosed with dementia and he's lost so much of himself in the past year. My Dad developed diabetes in his 60's and lived to 81. I'm not aware of any other family member having diabetes. Mom had macular degeneration but no other major health issues and lived to nearly 98.

I drink water, water, water (sometimes with Dasani flavor drops and sometimes with a drop of juice), and Premier Protein Drink (chocolate, vanilla & strawberry). Just thought the joke was funny and on target for us on DC.

Haha! IS funny! Especially for those of us that have to avoid most alcohol and drink as much water as we can. :D
