Theoretically you are now guaranteed access to health insurance under the ACA..However in practice it guarantees nothing..Insurance companies can not deny you coverage because of diabetes…they can however charge you an insane premium that would still put it out of reach…If you live in a state that expanded Medicaid you should ask about that first..and see if you qualify for a federal subsidy… I qualify for neither and have opted out.

Hampshire - What nation do you live in? In the U.S., as of January 2014, citizens can sign up for a plan under the ACA and they accept people with pre-existing conditions. As a college student, or potential college student, you should be able to go on to the college's website and investigate whether if offers a student health plan. If it is a larger school, many of them do offer a health plan for students to enroll in, and enrollment in the plan does cost money. Remember, a group plan has to accept everyone in the group. Again, that does depend on the school. And, if you do live in the U.S., depending on what state you live in, you may be eligible for Medicaid for adults, if you are income eligible. Just remember, be financially savvy and careful. Good luck to you!!!

I think you are probably asking whether you are eligible for government-subsidized healthcare (e.g. Medicaid or such)? Is your question about Obama-care? Many such plans have income limits. We might be better able to answer your questions if we knew specifically which plan or plans you are referring to.
