Hi everyone!
Last night my boyfriend was having dinner at my house and in the middle of out meal, he was struck by a hot flash and a feeling like something was wrong. I could see the panic in his eyes. This hot flash lasted just a minute or so, but he almost blacked out at the end of it. He said he was seeing spots. After a few minutes, he was fine. We went back to eating. This happened probably three or four times during the evening. I took his blood sugar during the meal and it was 344. He has not been told he is diabetic..so this was a shock to him. HIs blood pressure was elevated as well, 150 over 100…He is 58 years old and was in a motorcycle wreck seven years ago, he died twice, and was told he would never walk again. Well, we wallk two miles every evening in the summer. He sustained some head trauma, and has some neurological issues..hand tremors and slurred speech when he is tired. I guess my question is, has anyone had an experience like this when thier sugar is high? In between spells, he was ok, I urged him to let me take him to the ER, but he refused..promising he would call his dr today…ANY input would be appreciated. Thank you!

I get hot when my numbers go very high. I get clammy and shaky when they go low. I can tell at night when my liver is dumping because I get night sweats. It sucks. I don't see spots though, so it could have been something completely different.

That sounds pretty scary. Did you talk to him about his sugar? That is way out of range for a person without diabetes and he should get that checked out. Did he do as he promised and call his doctor?
