I am from Arizona. Born and raised. My friends and family don't truly understand what I deal with with being a type 1 diabetic. So I would like to meet others who live in Arizona and become friends. I would prefer someone my age. Ages between 20 -30 would be amazing.

I've been in San Antonio TX, NOW for almost 30 yrs. Grew up in Baltimore, MD. Spent 14 yrs in CA and 1 yr in AZ. Finished moving around now and my girls are both here with the grandkids, so here I will stay.

Hi Nerdy — I am from right here in the Valley, but, alas, at the other end, out in Glendale. Can't help you with being between 20-30, but I do have two daughters in their 20's who know all about diabetes due to me, their mom, having it. When I was in my 20's, I was lucky, because I found a great support group, through the ADA. What was nice about it was that they started it and then backed off, so we ran it ourselves. There were people of all ages and they had social activities such as potlucks and it was not all medical stuff. If I hear about anything, I can let you know. This valley is so spread out that it is hard to attend something too far away. Good luck to you, Nerdy.

Howdy Nee
Where in AZ do you hang your hat? According to your profile it is Gilbert AZ.

Looking it up the closest large city is Phoenix and the Am Diabetes Assn. has an office there at 5333 N. 7th Street, Suite B-212 Phoenix, Arizona, 85014
You can find the local chapter activities here ~ http://www.diabetes.org/in-my-community/local... I note that there is a dance coming up on Feb 21 in Mesa AZ. should this interest you look on the website to which I just sent you the link for more info.

I currently hang my stetson in Las Vegas Nv.

God's best to you

Nee You can go back to that site and check for other happenings around the general area which are coming. You could also use the phone number to ask if there are any other diabetes groups in the area.

I was born and raised in Fairborn, right outside of Dayton. Growing up I lived a half block away from Wright Patterson Air Force Base Museum. It has been moved to Dayton now. I still miss it sometimes. Not to fond of Houston. LOL

I'm from Iowa & then/now Texas. I, too, wish I could find a local support group to visit with people in person. But, I was happy to stumble across this website. I'm still a newbie & poking about the website, but I need all the support I can get. I tend to be a creature of extremes…and when I start to lose my momentum I will need a place like this to vent & reach out for support. I have maybe 2 friends locally & they have families & busy lives. Hoping you find some peeps to hang out with in your area!

I'm from New Hampshire and a bit older, sorry. I'd suggest asking your doctor or Endo if there are any diabetes support groups in your area. Good luck finding friends in your area. Heidi

You might want to check out any local American Diabetes Association chapters or JDRF chapters. They sponsor many fund-raisers and need both participants and volunteers and it's a great way to connect with other people interested in living with diabetes. (I'm more than 2X the ages your seeking, grew up in the Northeast and now live in Florida.)

I grew up in Georgia but I've been living in Indiana for the past 8 months. (These folks have funny accents!)

Have you checked into the local hospital to see if there are any groups that meet in your area? If you are looking for some good face to face, that is a great place to start.

There are lots of great members here too. Cyber friends have a good place in the mix as well.

Top of the morning to you!

Too old and too far for this party (I live in Alabama), but best of luck to you. Sharing fears and hopes is a very important method for managing your mental as well as physical health. Be well!
