I seem to have a lot of high blood sugar levels. So here's the question…what's the best way to lower blood sugar quickly? I've been told to eat peanut butter but that just doesn't seem to work for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Reiterating what the others have said, low to moderate intensity workout, walking, swimming, biking and drinking a few glasses of water will help to lower your BG, and time. There is no quick fix for bringing it down. Wishing you the best. Heidi

Around 3:00 pm today, my BG level was 210 (unexpectedly high after my 42 grams of carb lunch). I went out for a brisk 35 minute walk. When I came back and tested, my BG had dropped by 50 points. So, aerobic exercise will lower your BG. I would not eat anything to try and lower my BG.

Eating is very unlikely to lower blood glucose levels … the only thing I have found that lowers my BGL "quickly" i s a 1 to 2 mile walk and 20 minutes of weight lifting (I usually see about a 10 point drop).

The best way to lower your BG (blood glucose aka "sugar") levels would be to exercise. Go out and take a walk, or swim, or ride a bike. BG levels generally go down (unless it is extreme exercise). Another way is to drink water. Each of those ways the BG lowering is not signifigant. There is no quick way to lower one's BG level,

A longer term way is to eat a low carbohydrate (carb) and high protein meal plan. It has worked well for me.

You'll need to see your Dr and get in touch with his Registered Dietician (RD) to determine what level of carbs per meal (and per day) you should be consuming. (generally for males it should be somewhere between 45 to 60 carbs per meal. You can dial that in according to your age, weight, and activity level. (that can be one of the things you do with the RD).

God's best to you and yours
James
