Had a physical today and although I am not happy about only losing 5 lbs since I started my exercise program the results of my Hemoglobin A1C dropped into the normal "diabetic" range. I went from 11. 8 to 6.7. I have joined a gym and I go every 2nd day. I spend 30 minutes doing weights and 30 minutes of cardio. I sweat unmercifully. My doc told me not to focus on the weight but to focus on the benefits I'm getting. I like building muscle, it feels better than jiggly fat but I am in no way close to looking like a weight lifter. I still have a muffin top and a back fat line I don't like.
Doc won't take me off any of my meds though. I'm on Metformin, Junuvia and Repaglinide, along with Rampril and Rovastatin.
I hope to come off of some of these in the future.

Hi LadyLouAnn, it's great to hear that you are so dedicated to getting exercise. That's excellent. Sounds like the exercise is helping you in a lot of ways. Including weight loss. I hope you will be patient with yourself, I know it's not easy.

I'm newly diagnosed. Started working out last Thursday again but this Tim in gym. Lost 7 lbs but I have at least 100 to loose. Keep up the work! I do have days right now. I mix walking on treadmill with weights. I also have changed eating habits. Just on 500 mg metforman er once a day. Keeping me on avg 100.

Just keep on doing what you know is right. If nothing else, you just feel better and that is what quality of life is all about. If you are one of the lucky ones who can drop meds, it will come. If not, don't sweat it too much. Just keep on movin'!

A hearty pat on the back for your commitment. Regular exercise benefits us all in so many ways. Obviously your building of lean muscle is helping to eat some of that boold sugar. Please keep it up.

My goal is also to control my blood sugar through eating clean and an exercise program split between cardio and strength training successfully and being removed from medications.

Best of luck to you!
