When I saw my doctor recently for my 3 mo. check up I told her how I get hungry in the night and my bg is low and I then cannot sleep. I told her I get up and eat a small bowl of cherrios w/ non fat milk. She said that it is no wonder I cannot lose weight. When this happens day or night to get up and have one piece of toast with peanut butter on it. I hardly eat bread anymore but I am doing as she said and I sleep better.

This is interesting to me for I did not know eating the cereal like that would make you big. I am funny about peanut butter for when I lived in this well institution really we ALWAYS had such a dry sandwich at night for Diabetics. And they were cheap there so it was hardly anything on them. Anyhow, I got sick of em' after a couple years of it. lol So, now I go thru my moments when I crave it or just can not stand it. I know I am weird. lol Good luck with your new method though. And that is good that you are sleeping thru the night now at least!! *Hugs* Sheila

Hi to everyone who replied,
Thank you for your various responses. It isn't that don't like peanutbutter, it is just that I that I grow tired of it. I really try to watch my carbs and fat.

There is a great food called Thani, and it is a sesame paste that is good. Also there is almond butter. Those may actually be better for you, I am not sure. There is also cashew butter, but I believe it has more carbs in it, so you might not want to eat that too much.

I don't eat anything but natural peanut butter if I eat it. I eliminate all the bad hydrogenated fats in it that way.
Another option could be cream cheese or even a little velveta (unless you are very strict on your sodium)
All of these things have a little fat that keep you feeling full longer and also keep your levels a little more even.

OR, get this. If you like chocolate, try a serving of 80% cocoa by Lindt or any other candy maker. It is low carb and has some fat in it that helps.

I don't like peanut butter so I use Almond or soy butter. I just bought sunflower seed butter which has less sugar then the others.

I on the other hand, adore and love Peanut Butter. Its the wonder food. it goes with just about eveything. Cookies, cakes, Ice Cream, (all low calorie using artificial sweetner of course) It goes great on toast, melted of course. Makes a great P J Sandwich for a quick sandwich. Single layer bread, then peanut butter with Sugar free jelly on top. And to top if all off, Reeses Peanut butter cups. Have one evey day. You know, if you dont like the Peanut Butter, choose somthing else that you will like and maybe switch off and try different items each night. But just make sure its healthy and that the portions are right.
Good luck.
