I am 51 years old and I have type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed about 25/30 years ago. I have been on the pump, but I really need the the sensor to regulate my pump. I was turned down by my insurance company. So my sugar is either bottoming out or to high to get a reading. I am at the end of my rope and I feel ready to give up on life. So someone please give me a reason to not kill myself!!!

I'm so tired of seeing commercials about different treatments and studies for people with type 2 diabetes, what about us type 1 diabetics? It seems as though we are doomed. It's extremely depressing. We need a Type 1 diabetic research walk for a cure

as for a CGM appeal the decision with your insurance fight it another the CGM keeps track of your blood glucouse it will shut your pump off at a certain level BUT IT DOES NOT give you extra insulin if your high, you must do this yourself, I am type 2 and my insurance approved me immediately for the new 530G medtronic pump, a new meter Bayer next and the Enlite CGM, it does give you better control. read more here , don't give up!!!!!!!

Oh Evie, i hurt so bad right now. I've wanted to give up many times. I've even taken pills and OD'd a few times. I've landed myself in the hospital and twice in ICU where I almost died, one time when I came to I was so angry, I had wanted to die and I felt like a failure because I didn't die.
Diabetes CAN be a killer … don't let it be. Don't !
You are stronger than diabetes.
You can inject, and test. You can use the pump and test. You can fight this damned thing and you can win. YOU CAN. I'm not gonna tell you it's going to be easy, cause it's not, but you can do it. All you have to do right now is the next right thing. That's all, just this minute. The next right thing. Breathe.
Please message me privately. Call me (603)832-4504 anytime, day or night. Go to the ER Call your doctor.
Do not let stupid dumb diabetes win.
Evie, love wins, not diabetes.
Do the next right thing.
Call me.

heidi it is not safe for you to post your contact info on a public board. It is also a violation of the Terms of use

May I suggest you go in and edit that phone number out?

The best way is to friend Edie and give her your contact info in PM. It will get the info to her and will keep you both safe.

A reason NOT to kill yourself???…how about this…because YOU have value on this planet that transcends (by far) the fact that you are having difficulty managing your diabetes…everybody has value…even this POST has value..getting people talking about suicide is important…we don't know who else is reading this…we don't know how many other people might be thinking the same as you..YES other people just like you!!…that is what this site is about…people sharing thoughts and opinions..and supporting one and other…life is difficult…mine was long before I was diagnosed…feeling hopeless is NOT a reason to kill yourself…you need to call someone…or…you need to go to the local ER and tell them how you are feeling…an answer always exist…we just need to find it..and things are NEVER EVER as bad as they seem…because people do exist that are WAITING to help you..they went to school for years just for the opportunity to help you…message me privately if you need to talk..

Who wants "quitter" on their head stone? I'm sure you don't. I can think of thousands of reasons to not kill yourself, but only you know the ones that are important to you. I know it has to be frustrating beyond belief. It amazes me when insurance companies deny life saving coverage.

If you don't have the sensor to regulate your pump, then wouldn't it be better to go back to testing and injecting? A tool is only good if it works and it seems this is not going to for now.

I know it's only virtual, but a big HUG to you.
