Hello!! My name is Kristi, 32 year old female, Type 2 since April 2013. Struggle A LOT with foods, what to fix, snacks and such. I work different shifts but mostly 3rd shift (midnight-8am). My initial A1C was 11.3 and by July it was down to 7.2 then in Oct. it was 6.8. I'm not sure what my last reading was but I'm due again in about 2 weeks. Lately, I have not been checking my sugar like I should, I know it's so important, but I wont lie, I haven't been checking it much at all; maybe once a week. Anyways, when I see my doctor in 2 weeks, I was seriously thinking of talking to him about starting Victoza. I'm not a fan of shots at all but I've been on a combo pill - Glipizide/Metformin for a while now and it seems like it's not really doing the trick. I do have some times, mainly the middle of the night, when my sugar bottoms out on me. Could I get some input from you wonderful folks? I have to do something..I have to take my life back! I'm not a fan of shots but I think maybe this is med is an answer to my prayers. Thanks in advance!!

I have type 2, use insulin and alsoI have been on Victoza for about 9 months now, it has helped and I managed to loose a few pounds, but my Endo tried me on the metformin however when my body rejected it she suggested Ivokana 100mg with good results.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the A1c drop. That is great and hopefully in 2 weeks you will see where you stand. You must be doing something right to get that kind of a drop. Maybe a diet or exercise adjustment could help you out? That is something you can ask your doctor about as well.

I go through periods like you when I don't want to test because I get busy or lazy, it depends. But I know I do better when I test enough to see what is going on. It helps me keep on top of things better.

There are many discussions on Victoza and you can read those and see what other people are saying about it too.
