I really wanted some good news to start the New Year, and I got it this morning. I was able to walk out of the Wellness Center without using my cane. I have a long way to go, but thanks to my regular exercise, diet, meds, and encouragement from my "family" here on DC, I am starting to see improvement in my neuropathy along with my BG. I am now having more good days than bad—both physically and emotionally. Does anyone else have good or special news to report for the start of the new year?

Hi Sweets
My good news for 2014 is I started an excersise class and attend faithfully. I lost almost 80 lbs. and got off diabetic medication. But best of all fell in love and got engaged to a wonderful man. All in all it was a pretty good
year for me. My health is the best it's not been in 7 years. My heart is renewed after 12 years. A VERY HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEARS TO ALL.
P.s. I still need to loose more weight, but I know I can. Love to my DC family… VL

I saw my Endo on the 30th, I had lost 12 lbs in Nov and Dec, not a lot, but not bad considering thanksgiving and christmas! also, my A1c went from 6.0% down to 5.3%. She lowered my insulin and took me off one of my oral meds. I see her again in 3 months with weight checks as desired (monthly probably). 2014 was a successful year for me. At the beginning of the year my A1c was 14. I've made some major life changes. Best of health in 2015. HUGS,Heidi

That is great news. Loosing weight and dropping your A1c—fantastic progress. You should be proud of yourself.

Our good news is that we are adopting a rescued pup from a friend of ours. He's a little dog (very odd for us who like the 100 pounder's) He passed the other dog test over the last two days, so Saturday we are going to get him a collar and tags.

He has a broken leg and we will be seeing what his options are for fixing it or taking it off. But I tell you, you could hardly tell he gets along on 3 legs. He's part whippet and we think Chihuahua and runs like the wind. I will post pics of him soon.

What a great start to the new year!!! I'm so happy for you.

I am decreasing my insulin tonight from 10 units to 8 units. I'm so happy because I started at 20 units in May and I've been able to continue decreasing my Lantus. It took me four months to be able to start decreasing and three months to get to my halfway point. I feel like I'm right on track to be off meds by the end of June 2015.

I mom gave me her exercise equipment and I put the treadmill up in the living room yesterday. Good thing because it snowed last night and we now have 6 inches of snow but I'm very toasty walking in the living room.

Good morning,
My success isn't as exciting as yours. Congratulations its so wonderful you see some improvement. I bet early in 2015 your will be up and dancing. :)
I guess my good news is I am finally recovering from this silly flu my family shared with me over Christmas. I have continued to walk everyday with the exception of yesterday. My sweet husband wants me to sit on the couch and rest but I think with diabetes if I can at least take a short walk when I'm not feeling well I will recover more quickly.
Looking forward to seeing what 2015 holds. I am positive I will see some great improvements in my health and I am looking forward to measuring my successes as you have done.
Happy New Year!!!!!

I think ANY success is exciting. Getting over the flu is definitely important, and you were determined enough to take walks during this illness. With your positive attitude and work ethic, I have no doubt you will have many success stories in 2015.
