Journey... of 66 pounds.

As October rolled around, my life began to change. Happy Birthday, you are pre~diabetic, is not exactly what every 196 pound 48 year old woman wants to hear. That is what happened October 2014.
Let me assure you that October 2015 will be different!! My first appointment with a Nutritionist, I was told… you have to loose 66 pounds. I have a long journey, and yes… I am working hard!!
Firstly, getting an exercise plan and a diet plan in place are monumental… but necessary.
My first move to exercise was a treadmill… that was back on October 16, I hardly made that first mile, and as my journal reports, I was exhausted.
Today is December 30, 2014 and I now weigh 168. My treadmill and I spend 4.0 miles a day together…I go as fast as I can!! At the end of that experience, I look as if I have been running from a dog!! Now that I am nearing the half way mark… I am feeling somewhat better and my morning blood sugars are most often below 100, but not always.
I am super good at carb cutting recipes, and that has made a HUGE difference! At least I don't have to deprive myself of as many things.
This journey, is hard, support and understanding are so important to my success.

It sounds like you are on the right path to success with that. It is a journey and it can be exhausting, but the good thing is that you got up and keep on going. 4 miles a day is great!

Certainly not what we'd like to hear on our birthday, but indeed probably the best birthday gift you can give yourself is better and improving health. I congratulate you on your great efforts. Due to mobility issues, I can't even get one mile in on the treadmill, but I spend 10 minutes there, then move to the bike and do 10 minutes there, I'm working to improve my time, but it will take time. I know just what you are feeling. While I use a stationery bike rather than a treadmill, I have gotten faster and longer on it, for which I am proud of myself. I have lost 45 lbs since August. I eat no white foods. I try to stay under 1000 calories per day. My blood sugars are good, my blood pressure is ok, and I am feeling much more energized. Together we will master this weight and be healthy, happy, and "cute" in our new bodies. We will keep up our hard work and know that each of us is there for the other. Happy New Year. 2015 is our year.
