Thank God I am not a violent woman..or my doctor would of been slapped today…he had told me that my thyroid was literally dead and that I would have to go on meds…so I had to give up my favorite almond breads..because people with thyroid problems cant eat almonds…today he apologized to me and said my thyroid is "very healthy for a 46 year old"..and operating at 95%…he had read the result wrong…now I am happy don't get me wrong..but I have enough wrong with me without having to worry about a problem I don't have…anyway..I stopped for two loaves of my favorite Paleo bread (made with almond flour)…and my saint of a hubby paid 12 bucks a loaf without blinking an eye…

Bless his heart! Since being diagnosed I have not been in my favorite bakery because the temptation would be overwhelming. I don't know of any place close that would sell specialty breads, but sure wish there were some. Happy New Year!

You do know if a hubby spends $12 for a loaf of bread and got you 2 loaves, there are strings attached and a price to be paid! LOL! I had a growth on my thyroid about the size of a golfball. Ended up being a growth around my thyroid (not attached to it, about the size of a grapefruit!

Hi jib jab,
i also have be on throid medication for 25 years and have ate almonds the whole time. No one has ever warned me differently. I am sorry for the stress and pain you felt at your Dr.'s expense. I know
it must have been very trying. Your husband is a keeper to say the least. What a great man, but $12.00 a loaf…whow

well, that is good news sorry you went through the stress of a misdiagnosis. YAY for hubby for just doing it without a complaint at all, I like him already :)

I'm glad your thyroid is functioning so well, and that you have such a sweet husband. ~Lynn @Glucerna

That's GREAT news but so sorry you had to emotionally deal with your doctor's mistake. At least he admitted it and apologized but that can't erase the stress and worry you went through. I'm so glad your hubby is so supportive. Mine is too. I don't know what i would do without him. BTW-where do you buy the Paleo/almond flour bread?

I eat almonds and use almond flour. I've been on thyroid meds for over 30 years and was never advised to avoid almonds.

I saw it on a list of foods that people with thyroid issues should avoid…on several different websites…but I was hoping to stay off the meds and boost my thyroid function through dietary changes..might be fine for someone taking meds..

I was born without a thyroid and have taken thyroid meds for 59 years. I've never heard of not eating almonds. I've eaten them pretty much my whole life with no ill effects. Of course, it may just be me. Lots of meds effect me differently because of my thyroid issue so I check with my doctor before taking most things.

I am just as confused as everyone else by this…I had read on three different "foods to avoid" list (for people with bad thyroids) not to eat almonds…today I wake up and read an article that says almonds are find but not to eat soy…the Soy wasn't mentioned on the previous list…I just thank God I don't have to deal with it anymore…I am the kind of person that if I read I cant eat it..it gets cut out of my diet…
