There are many schools of thought on New Year's goals, resolutions and promising to do the right things. All can be broken, but they can also be adjusted and realigned. I think when we put so much pressure on ourselves to do it perfect every day, if we fall down, we never give ourselves permission to get back up and try again.
Example, our goal this year was to buy the house we were renting. We worked hard at every turn and seemed to hit road blocks all along the way. It was frustrating, exhausting and there were lots of tears. Finally, it came to be through a lot of creative thinking and great landlords. We did it. It didn't go as planned, but it got accomplished.
The same goes for our daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. We don't always get there when we wanted or how we planned, but if we keep them in mind, we can get there or we can adjust our plan and try something different.
The key is to have something to work for. We work for a pay check, we save for a vacation, we train for a marathon and we study for a test. The reward is there and it pulls us along.
What is one of the things that you really want to accomplish in 2015? How do you plan to do it? What is your reward for accomplishing it?
