Howdy Jib Jab
I agree with what Dr Hyman said in the video about fiber. Very informative.
I get e mailings from him occasionally, offering products to buy from him. I pretty much ignore those and go my own way.

I do pay attention to some of the ingredients in those formulations and then seek to purchase the same ingredients from the suppliment store or off of the internet, generally at a greatly reduced price from the suppliments offered by the Drs online.

God's best to you

He is correct, but there are many sources of soluble fiber. I tried to tell you all about the benefits of soluble fiber in my discussions about resistant starch fiber awhile back. The form I use is Hi maize 260 and inulin. Google: Extend Bars and look for Francine Kaufman who is a former CEO of the American Diabetes Association. She sells the Extend products. They are loaded with resistant starch fiber (soluble fiber), that is why they work. I experimented with the resistant starch fiber starting 8 years ago. I bought her Extend Bars once and when I found they worked, I found the key ingredient she used. I did a lot of my own experiments and found my own way to use it. My Triglycerides are 68, my cholesterol/HDL is 2.5.
After 20 years of diagnoses of type 2 diabetes, I am now normal weight and in perfect health at 76 years old. I take no drugs.
My Dr. said last week that I am no longer insulin resistant. I can tell you from my own experience and experiments, without the understanding of the part soluble fiber plays in my diabetes, I would weigh 205 lbs. ,have heart disease, failing kidneys and numb feet. Grandma Rose

He's definitely trying to sell, and in my opinion that is okay, that is 90% or more of what the internet is about. He does, however, have good information about fiber. I know for a fact that prior to my beginning to eat healthier about 5 months ago, I did not get near enough fiber in my day to day diet, I know today I'm still not getting as much as I should, but I'm much closer to my goal than I have ever been before. After the holidays I will be looking into a quality fiber suppliment, as I don't think with the amount of calories I eat I can get enough fiber. Thanks for sharing this. HUGS and Happy Christmas and Healthy 2015. Heidi

As far as I am concerned he can sell all he wants…better people buy what he is selling than the crap that is out there in the supermarkets and drug stores…as for me..I listen to his lectures but I buy Lessman…

I would tend to agree with you on this except that I have never watched a single one of his videos where he has plugged any of his own products…he doesn't…just because a man has a line of supplements doesn't mean he is a scam artist…and I did look up some of his products just to see how much they more than Dr. Lessman's line…I use his products extensively…I was hooked after trying his hair skin and nail formula and actually growing strong nails for the first time in my life…not all supplements are created equal…some are much better quality..and although I have no intentions of switching products (if it aint broke don't fix it)…I see nothing wrong with a person selling products as long as they are quality

I can't believe I clicked on this link. I agree with Steve. Another one trying to sell over priced supplements.

Hi Jib Jab,
have to fully agree with Steve on this one. He said all I would say.
Sorry I can't get into this with you. Valentine Lady

Not a big fan of Dr Hyman (or any MD that sells over-priced supplements) and as is often the case he is over simplifying the primal diet advantages … but … I have been a long time advocate of the benefits of a high fiber diet and thought he was pretty much spot on with what my personal experiences have been.

I would agree with you Steve, however on this one he is right. Insoluble fiber is good, but soluble fiber holds some magic for diabetics.
