Yes Mucinex does have sugar. It does not show that on their bottle but as a type one my sugars went up after using it. The second time I was at 130 took the does and 12 units. When I checked my sugar later it was 90. So this time I am trying 10 units. Be careful and check your sugars. God bless you all.

Pills are generally safer than syrups because no sweet is required to get them down. There are some ingredients in there that are a little creepy, but they seem to be so slight that they should not cause an issue. Most are the elements that create the actual pill for delivery of the medicine in it

Inactive ingredients in Mucinex DM:
carbomer homopolymer type B: http://www.goodguide.com/ingredients/431671-carbomer-homopolymer-type-b-ingredient-information-reviews
D&C Yellow #10 aluminum lake
hypromellose: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypromellose
Magnesium stearate, NF:http://www.drrons.com/beware-of-additives-in-supplements.htm
Micro-crystalline cellulose, NF: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcrystalline_cellulose
Sodium Starch glycoate, NF: http://www.drugs.com/inactive/sodium-starch-glycolate-128.html

Here is the phone number if you have questions 866-682-4639

It says not to take it if you are cetrain drugs for depression, phychiatric or emotional condtions or Parkinson's disease or on MAOI's.

I keep in on hand, but have never used it personally

These are excellent questions to ask your pharmacist and/or physician. Be sure to stay hydrated, and I hope you feel better! ~Lynn @Glucerna

A very good question, and I'll be calling my doctor tomorrow to find out what to be taking for a cough/cold as I seem to be developing a bit of a runny nose and a cough (yes, just in time for Christmas) hopefully it will pass quickly for both of us. HUGS, Heidi

My doctor told me to never take anything with D or DM on the label. It will make the heart race. I do keep diabetic cough syrup around especially during the colder months. I have never checked for carbs. I do take regular Mucinex when I can't find anything else.
