I never in my life thought I could or would stand the taste of diet sodas. I had them a few times over the years and thought how could anyone suck one of these babys down if they didn't have a gun pointed at their head?

and then about a month ago I bought a bottle, really wanted a fizzy drink and I could not believe that it tasted as good as it did. I would imagine a regular soda now would taste like syrup.

The other thing is crystal light, it meets the need.

Soda is a tricky thing. I used to drink diet soda all the time. I suppose if you don't mind watery sodas, then you can cut your carbs in half if you add and equal amount of water to your drink. Sounds kind of yucky to me, but some people don't mind. But you still have to count the carbs in your drink, and I find I prefer to eat my carbs.

Personally, I would rather drink water. Artificial sweeteners are not a good option specially if you drink a lot of them. I drink mostly unsweet tea, water with lemon or lime in it and on occasion a coffee with ice and milk. You have to watch the milk though.

If you have to have "sweet" try some alternatives such as Stevia, Truvia, Agave Nectar, and Xylitol. These are more natural, have zero to 3 carbs (except the agave, it has 16, but it is low on the glycemic index) They are MUCH safer than Neutra Sweet or Splenda.

if you are changing to diet soda do not get what you would norm drink go to somthing diff and only drink it from the frig and over ice. and not name brand try stor brand .do this for 7 days then try what you would norm drink.no name . for another 7 days .then try the name brand.this way you dont conpair the tast of what you like to the new diet soda. the cold and over ice helps a lot.

I gave up soda alltogether a couple of years ago (never drank much to begin with), but my husband and mother have given it up and will drink carbonated water (soda water) instead. Mom puts a little lemon in hers. They get the bubbles and get their water! And my husband has lost 30 pounds!

Adding water to soda only waters is down and it won't taste good. Just drink diet or do what I did and gave up soda all together. I drink lots of water and that's it.

No…soda with water is not for you. Diet sodas are recommended…however read the labels and make sure they are calorie free.
