I am also a Type 1 and I have 2 healthy children, I would suggest that you get your diabetes under the best control possible before you get pregnant. I would also suggest you find a OBGYN that will handle a high risk pregnancy and meet with him/her before getting pregnant. and the best of luck to you and your family.

I'm type1. I got pregnant 8 months after I was diagnosed and I had a good pregnancy. Just be sure to keep an eye on you BG because every pregnancy is different. Just like every diabetic is different. If your having any cravings, just look it up to see if it's ok to eat or drink. And it's easier for diabetics to develop preeclampsia. I started to at the very end of my pregnancy. Good luck and I hope you have a good pregnancy(:

Many Thanks for your advice.
I am not pregnant yet, planning to be in the new year but I am a little concerned as I want to be in the best shape possible beforehand.
Did you do anything to help you before you got pregnant ?
Thanks Iuliana

Howdy Luliana
There are many ladies here on DC and have become pregnant while having diabetes. I am sure that when some see this discussion they will post here.

My experience with pregnancy and diabetes is having a wife (now ex) who had 3 sons while she had gestional diabetes. On the first pregnancy the GD was a surprise, with the 2nd and 3rd were not.

I expect that the ladies will tell you to get and keep your BG (blood glucose). levels in the "normal" range and under control.

Praying for success for you in your desire to procreate
