Yesterday was my first day in the induction phase of my new keto diet…I monitored by blood glucose before every meal two hours after every meal..in the morning when I woke up..right before bed..and at 3 am..my glucose levels never went over 126 the entire day..well within my goal of keeping it under 140..I am happy..I will continue to monitor my glucose very carefully..but I feel great..and I am beholding the power of cheese and loving the incredible edible egg..and having real cream…and real tuna salad that has not been destroyed by lowfat/nonfat mayo..dont feel deprived..my belly was full all day…yes I remember this well..the one thing I miss is my nuts..cant have them on induction..I am use to a handfull or two of organic tree nuts everyday..sigh..not to worry..I will be able to add them back soon enough..

Why don't they want you to eat nuts? They are mostly fat.

Because during induction you are limited to 20 grams of carbs per day..And you are encouraged to get most of that from green leafy vegtables and steamed veggies…we are encouraged to eat 6 loose packed cups of greens and two servings of steamed veggies..after induction..a period that can last as long as you want it to if you have a large amount of weight to loose..you start adding 5 grams of carbs per day every week to your diet..I am only going to do induction for two weeks…so as soon as that is over the first thing I will add is a palmful of tree nuts every day..Then every week I will add another 5 grams of carbs per day…I am planning on adding a slice of low carb bread the second week after induction..and I will probabably stop adding when I hit 40 grams a day..and stay their for the ongoing weightloss part of the diet…then when I reach my goal weight go up to 60…because i want to stay on this diet long term…As I previously mentioned..I was on this diet before and really loved it..

That is very interesting, thanks for sharing. It is wonderful that you are so disciplined. I would miss nuts too. My breakfast is 1/2 cup mixed tree nuts daily. I used to count carbs and calories, and write it all down, but don't anymore. It is so burned in my brain that I don't need to. It does get easier.
