I hope that all of you are doing well. With the on and off heat & rain, what have you been doing lately for fun and exercise?

Myself, I've been slowly increasing my walking time from 30 minutes to 45 every other day (since I work all of the time on my feet), and I've been doing more photography and metal detecting.

For fun I play percussion in the Seattle Civic Band. We meet weekly 11 months of the year and have concerts at neighborhood fairs, retirements homes, and on July 4th, we have an old-fashioned Bang-up patriotic concert at the Ballard Locks. For exercise I garden, hike, walk, and never sit still.

Hi Barry,

I also walk 2 miles 5 times a week..I love the walk and it is fantastic. I am going to include and exercise bike in with my workouts. I would love to join a health club but in NYC it is SO expensive, so I do what I can. In October I will be stepping out for diabetes there is a 5 mile walk on October 26th in NYC!!

This is not specifically aimed at you but you mentioned the price of health clubs.

If you have insurance, check what benefits other than the insurance you get through them. With mine I get discounts at some online health stores as well as discounted rates and free sign up at curves and another national chain of gyms, plus a bunch of other discounts and free stuff like massages. If you pay for the insurance you should take advantage of everything they offer. If your company has online access that's often the easiest way to locate all the extras they do but a phone call should work as well. Anyone who has Anthem, sign up for online access and click "My Special Offers" when you log in.

Edit. I just checked and the other gym I get discounts at is Global Fit and the discount is up to 60%

They do offer some sort of reimbursement. I will have to do some more checking. Thanks for reminding me about this.

Here's to GOOD HEALTH!!

Play soccer, do yoga and archery, go swimming and cycling, run on a treadmill and use a rowing machine to change it up. I also watch a bunch of TV and spend far too much time driving from Cleveland to Columbus to go see the Columbus Crew home games. My routine is a little off right now but I'm still doing at least some of those each week.

Hi Barry,

I am running in the Wasatch Back Relay! It is going to be so awesome! I am on a team with 11 other women and all together we will run 180 miles in Utah's gorgeous back country! I will run 15.3 miles of the 180 miles. It's this weekend so wish me luck!

Hi Barry,
I joined the YMCA this year as my Christmas/New Year's gift to myself. I started gradually going a few times a week but now I'm addicted and I go 5 days a week. I take Deep Water Conditioning classes, swim laps, work out on the weight machines (with instruction) and walk the treadmill. I've finally found something that isn't boring!! Something different everyday and I've met some great friends since I started. I've also lost 30 lbs!!! :)
I hope everyone is healthy and happy too!
