I know that it defeats the purpose feeling full when trying to lose weight. But i am having a small set back mentally because i have a hard time feeling full. i always feel like i am starving but i know that i don't need to eat. I have tried water to suppress the feeling but to no avail. i gradually have gotten fat and now am taking hold of the reins of my life. I had the same problem, and tried drinking green smoothies, made from about 60% dark green veggies and fruit. I vitamix them into a nice drink and keep a pitcher of it in the fridge all the time. I add a spoon full of psyllium husks to it and that seems to work for me. Doing it this way helps me to get the veggies down that I don't normally eat, like Kale, collard greens, spinach, etc.

I have the same problem. My problem,HUNGER , usually occurs between 8 and 10PM. I am struggling also. One thing I learned is carbs are deadly to me . They seem to triger my HUNGER. I also think I have learned
to expect that I should feel FULL and if I don't I'm not satisfied.I sometimes go to bed early so I won't eat. This helps my morning b.s. You're not alone please know that. Hopefully people in the Community will offer us some suggestions. Good luck and take care. Pete.

Oh yes do I understand. I have much weight to loose and I have been really trying but not making much progress. I 'am on insulin and some other meds that make it so much harder to loose. Its not an excuse, as some people think. So at this point I'am very frustrated, and yes hungry all the time. Its a real catch 22… get in touch if you want to talk about it more. Good luck

I do the crunchy stuff too, like the raw fruits and vegetables. But most of all I make sure I drink a large glass of water before eating and after eating. When I feel hungry again, I first drink a glass of water or ice tea to make sure I'm just not thirsty. If I am still hungry I opt for celery with peanut butter or celery with low fat cream cheese so I can take the time to chew and get that good chrunch. I hope that helps…Debe

I recently quit smoking, and am having sorta the same issue. But it seems when I eat is when I have a craving for a smoke, or am bored. I can mow a box of 16 Pop Tarts in one day! I know I need to get 'busy' instead of eating, but it's not easy! Good luck, I'll be checking in to see how your are doing!!

Need to add fiber, I eat a snack of the fiber 1 cereal. use veggies to snack on.
I use extendbars when I need something to hold me for a few hours they are high in fiber and hold our numbers steady.
You can eat and exercise without crashing.

let us know how you are doing hun, add me to friends if you want to chat or need help!

Hello Dark,
I'll jump on this wagon and add my 2 cents worth. Try eating more veggies. I know, we are not cattle. but there are some veggies that are real satisfying. Like Jonh said, try carrots with low fat ranch dressing. I love the baby carrots that way. Try to cut out some of the wastefull carbs you eat. White bread is not your friend. If you are going to eat bread, try a double fiber bread. Atleast 4% fiber. Toast it. Then it tastes just like the tosted white bread we all love. You might have heard this in the past, but try to chew your food slower. I Know I am always the first to finish off a meal at my house. Its not good. I grew up learning that you always finish off everything that is on your plate. So going to buffets were a very hard situation for me. I had to relearn that I dont need to eat all that is in front of me. And the thought of getting my moneys worth? It cost more to loose weight (mentally) then the cost of the food I am eating. Could you imagine if we could just pay to loose weight? That was the mentality I used to have. Its hard to overcome it. I do know that you should not skip meals. I used to not eat breakfast, then when I did eat, I would pig out. And just so you dont think I know what I am talking about, I at one time used to weigh 412 lbs on a 6 ft 3 frame. I am still a big boy, just not as big as I used to be. I found that I now eat more, but in smaller quantities and I tend to eat more healthier foods. Good luck

I know for me eating high-fiber foods really helps fight that feeling. And avoiding high-sugar foods that seem to give you a quick boost and then leave you feeling like you're starving.

Also, when you need to munch on something, munch on cucumbers, carrots, etc. These provide a satisfying crunch and very few calories.

Are you 'physically' hungry? Growly stomach?
As WW says, if you are eating something and are not hungry, what is eating you? Is there something bothering you at the time?
Or needing to fill a void? What else can you do than eat? EXERCISE? Get out of the kitchen, find something you like to do. I sew, use the dremel moto tool to work on a walking stick, read, etc.

I would recommend metamucil or one of the other fibers, I only drink one glass in the morning but I think it really helps hold me over until lunch, I'll also drink it if I think my numbers are going a little high to help slow the absorbtion of the glucose.

I have the SAME issue. I know that I am fine and dandy but mentally I feel like I need to eat more, especially when its something I REALLY enjoy. Ulgh, I wish I had the answers to this one hun but I certainly can relate with ya! *Hugs* Sheila
