It is odd that you should mention the very same thing I have been dealing with for quite awhile now…outer part of thigh and down leg numb and wake up with feet & toes swollen, numb or tingling…my lower back had been hurting when I stood more than a few minutes. It turns out that I have spinal stenosis of lumbar vertebrae. Dr said neuropathy of Diabetes feels more like numbness that is felt when a big sock pulled up over lower leg and calf. Maybe you should see for MRI or XRAYS. Something isnt right in any case and it definitely bears looking into further. Take care of yourself, please.

I don't have that problem, but I would suggest that you speak to your doctor about it, especially since it has gone on for so long. People who are diabetic have alot of problems with their feet and legs. But, you should have your dr. check to make sure exactly what is causing the numbness. I could be any number of things.

I saw the Dr. last week and I never mentioned it. We talked about so many other things. I will call and make an appointment.
Thanks for your answer,
