Was just curious if anyone else suffered from insomnia? Mine didn't start until I developed neuropathy and the pain was worse at night so it kept me up. My dr has put me on various meds to help with the pain and help me fall asleep, but I always wake up anywhere from midnight - 2 am and find it hard to fall back to sleep. I am wondering if it could be due to my high blood sugars as well? How do you deal with insomnia? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Howdy Heather
I have trouble getting to sleep, and I do a lot on DC when I can't get to sleep. I have always thought that my inability to sleep stems from my ADHD because I am often sleepy, but when my head hits the pillow, my mind seems to turn on and I think about a lot of things I could or should be doing. I've tried keeping a note pad by my bed but that just gets me a full note pad in record time. I even try to bore myself to sleep using solitaire or dominoes on the computer. I get drowsy and go to bed and soon as head and pillow meet, my mind turns on.
I also note that I seem to have RLS where my legs jump and twitch uncontrollably.

Christmas blessings to all

I can't remember the last time I slept through the night…I seem to wake up every 2 to 3 hours. I've chalked it up to menopause/aging as I remember my Mom also complaining that she didn't sleep well once she got past 60 years old and she did not have diabetes or any other health problems until she developed macular degeneration in her 80's. I don't want to take any sleep aids because of a past history of severe low BG's during the night although that hasn't recurred since using an insulin pump. I did try using a small dose of melatonin but didn't care for the effect that had…I felt an uncomfortable "buzzing". I've tried drinking an herb tea like "Sleepytime" but that fills my bladder and I have to get up to void it…seems counterproductive. I too will be interested in any advice. Thanks for posting!

I am only 29 but I wish it was menopause haha…I am just crossing my fingers that once I get my pump (only 1 more day left to have to do shots!) and my sugars get better under control that it will help with my pain and sleeping, Melatonin doesn't work for me it makes me feel tired but doesn't make me fall asleep. I feel so run down I just need some sleep lol
