diet soda alternatives

I am giving up diet sodas. What are suggestions for other things to drink? Has anybody sort of gone through withdrawal from the aspertame and/or caffeine? Thank you!

If you like the bubblyness of soda, try LaCroix carbonated water. I love the lime flavor, it has the carbonation, but no calories, no sugar no salt no artificial sweeteners. They have plain, and many other flavors. I didn;t care for the coconut flavor myself - felt like I was drinking carbonated sunscreen! haha I also drink alot of unsweetened iced tea. I did these things even before I got the big bad D

I have given up soda awhile back and didn't have no problem. Now drink something I never liked WATER! I don't mind it now.

The only side effect I had from getting rid of aspartame was feeling MUCH better. I didn't know how sensitive I was to it until I stopped consuming it.

Here are some recipes of things I make to drink:
Almond Milk is yummy:
Citrus Fresh I like when I'm hot:
Turmeric Tea is good hot or cold:

I also drink a lot of plain water. Another favorite I drink after I have worked out or been in the garden is coconut water with lime and truvia. Just use 1/2 cup of coconut water (not milk) and add a few squirts of lime juice and fill the glass with water and ice. Add Truvia if you want a little sweet to cut the lime. I love it.

I drink decaf tea and coffee and this time of year I really love a good cup of herbal tea.

I love infused water. You can buy pitchers from Target or Bed Bath and Beyond that have a container inside of them where you can put cut fruit or mint/cucumber in it. The water becomes really refreshing and interesting. I always drink more when I have some of this on hand!

Another option is buying 100% fruit juice and seltzer or club soda and mixing them together. Just enough to add a little sweetness.

Good for you!

Things to drink instead of "diet" sodas:

1. Water, good ole H2O.

2. water with lemon or lime juice.

3. water with flavor enhancers (like Mio)

4. milk (and non dairy milks like almond, rice and soy)

5. coffee and coffee type drinks lite Postum

6. tea, both regular and herbal

I had not had any withdrawal symptoms with aspartame

I did have major withdrawal symptoms when I decided to give up coffee cold turkey one weekend when I was in college. Major headaches (and I rarely get headaches) I went back on coffee later that day and discovered it is best to taper off with the caffeine. But you can likely make up from the soda withdrawal by drinking coffee and perhaps taper off gradually.

not me … I gave up smoking … I gave up alcohol … I gave up high carb foods but I have drawn the line at caffeine and aspartame
