I have seen the glucerna shakes and bars at my local supermarket and have thought about buying some and trying them. Thing is at nearly $9 for six, is it something I want to spend my money on. I am afraid that I won't like it and will be stuck with them.

11/28/14, I really like the chocolate glucerna shakes, but when I was first diagnosed with T2D the Strawberry shakes were not my friend, I would get sugar spikes. That's used too
(past tense) but now that my sugars are pretty much regulated I now can drink other flavors like Vanilla. Call around to the pharmacies like CVS, & WALGREENS price check they sometimes run specials!
My "Smith's Grocery/Pharmacy has 6 pks for $4.99

I finally bought some chocolate flavored glucerna. Waiting for them to get chilled before I try one. 2014-11-26 12:51:54 -0600 Report

I was able to find several coupons in diabetic magazines, so it could save you a little just to see if you like them or not. I'm thinking about giving it a try hope my coupons are not expired.

I like the chocolate shakes okay, they do have a slight sort of vitamin taste or something they were recommeded by the diabetes classes I took, there were some coupons for them in our packets. But they sure are pricey and I used to drink them at first and some of the bars were okay and some I did not like at all. They kept me full longer for sure. But the shakes, I stopped a long time ago because there is a long list of chemicals in them, and things I don't know what they are, so that is never a good thing in my opinion. I never noticed any spikes

I absolutely love the chocolate crispy caramel by Chocolite. The price keeps me from eating too many, but they nice to have on hand when you just can't stand to go another minute without something sweet tasting. They are so good—I feel like I am eating forbidden candy.

They taste good, but I don't see the need for them. Like Atkins, I like those too, but for the money I can buy a lot of things that I know are good for me and less processed. I have tried all the flavor shakes they have and like the pecan and chocolate best. I may keep them for a quick breakfast, but I am not a fan of using them all the time. They can help by being a safer sweet snack.

I am not big on eating breakfast but have been trying to eat something now that I am on insulin. It could be an alternative to bland cereal.

GabbyPA 2014-11-26 06:28:46 -0600 Report

Sure. It's hard to start the day with bland. LOL
I like breakfast, so drinking a breakfast has never been very stratifying to me. But give them a try. I have to say I have not really tested them on my levels, so I don't know if all the claims of no spikes are true.

I haven't tried the bars but chocolate shakes are pretty good. I sometimes havethem on hand for extra calories as i was trying to put some weight back on. They are expensive so now i buy alternatives. The atkins ones are good and a lot less carbs

Howdy Kim
My sweetie Valentine Lady, uses the Atkins bars to keep her hunger at bay while keeping her BG low. She loves them

Hiya James,

I love the coconut atkins bars!

Happy thanksgiving to u and ur family!

Those are my favorite Atkins bars. I will buy a box from time to time, but I have to be careful because I do like them a lot and eating more than one kind of defeats the purpose for me.

Howdy Bre
I know what you mean. Can't you buy them singly and try each flavor to see if they appeal to your tastebuds?

Due to my Kidney disease eating restritions I cannot have nuts or chocolate. That eliminates a lot of the bars on the market. I have found one which is tolerable which is based on yogurt. I had bought a bar that was lemon flavored which was OK at first, but then my taste buds rejected them. I had to give away an unopened box it got so bad.

God's best to you

I haven't noticed if they are sold singly. I see them at my pharmacy sold in 6 packs. I will have to look a little closer next time.
