increased appetite, or excessive hunger

Sometimes I experience intense hunger and on those days I go on food binges.
I sometimes feel as though I can't get enough to eat. It feels like my body is CARB craving for all sorts" of food I just want to eat and eat and eat.
Sometimes I starve myself out at bedtime trying not to eat the wrong things. I'm sorry to say this but I'm so bored with salads', chicken, and turkey and or limited food choices in the fridge or pantry.
I really despise those kinds of days, I then think to myself what is wrong with me?
Would like to know if anyone else experience these episodes?

I have the same problem. I love carbs and some days I just want to eat any and all that I can find. I am gradually figuring out that I can eat a lot of my old favorites as long as I spread out the carbs and remember PORTION CONTROL. On days that I feel intense hunger, I allow myself to increase my portions a small amount or eat a small portion of a "forbidden" food. This also helps with food boredom. I have also found a piece of whole what toast with a small amount of sugar-free jelly spread on it helps with my sweet cravings.

I do get the munchies especially on busy days , i check my bms and ensure i fill a plate with an aray of colourful veg or use extra herbs and spices on my food, i do believe the majority of us eat with our eyes i.e if we like how food is presented we want to eat it. so imagine your dream meal is like a fantastic piece of artwork so wonderful you want to savour it as long as possible

Are you on insulin? When I first started taking insulin, my hunger was nuts. It has gotten much better now.

I also still suffer from a latent form of PMS. I am past all that, but I still get cravings like I used to. Carb anything. For some it's chocolate, but for me it's any carb in sight. (so the key is to not have any in sight). LOL

When we deprive our body what it has been used to, it does get rebellious sometimes. Carbs, sugar and salt are all very addictive. Yep, like drugs or smoking. We just have to be ones in control. I will be honest, though, I don't always succeed at it either.

The thing that is good is that you realize it's happening. Even if it is after you ate 3 servings of chips. If you can get a grip on it and fight through it you can claim victory.

Trying to fill that hunger with other things that are not food related is something that helps me. I will force myself to go for a walk or get busy cleaning the house or doing something else. Anything to take my mind off the things my taste buds are craving. Usually that works best for me and I am productive as well.

I'm just curious, when you experience this intense hunger, have you tested your blood sugar? are you running low? if you haven't tested when this happens you might want to try.
