I like low carb diets. I definely watch my carbs. Each person is different. This is something you might want to disuss with you MD or dietitian. I am set at an extremely high amount which I have cut down quite a much on my own. But with less carbs I noticed my BS are much better…Debe

Most individuals get their own diet and carb plan and starting out most is like lisa said, 45 per meal and 15 per snack. If you are on a pump your carbs are not limited but you have to also remember even on a pump if you don't limit your carbs you will gain weight. So I must watch my carbs no matter what and I try to never go over 60 ever. Most of the time I rarely go over 45.

it depends on you, not anyone else in the group. we all are allowed a different amount. check with a diabetic nurse and dietician who can tell you.

When I went to diabetic wellness classes, they told us 45 carbs per meal and 15 carbs per snack. Three meals a day and two snacks. But like everyone is saying it depends on what your dr says. Hope this helps you.

yes that is true. I control mine now through diet and exericse, though I used to be on Metformin. I usually eat about 25 carbs with my snacks, or slightly more ,and it doesn't bother my BS at all.

Yeah this is a great question, but I guess it would depend on the person really. But I am sure there is a guideline. Hmmm I am Sheila btw, nice to meet ya! Good question! Sheila

I posted a similar question just a few days ago and I guess the answer is is that it is different for everyone. It depends on what your blood sugar goals are and what meds you are using. I am not on any meds right now, jsut diet and exercise and I am going low carb. Most days I don't miss carbs all that much, but today I woke up craving something with lots of carbs, so I gave in and at lunch allowed myself to have about 45 carbs. I guess your body will let you know if it needs it. The lower the carb meal, the easier the control for me, but agian, everyone is different.

I read in a diabetic news letter that about 60 carbs a meal is all you should have. Not sure if thats good for
