Does anyone know how to lose weight besides not eating. I can't exercise much because of other problems.

Outside of increased exercise to help increase your metabolism, I think the only solution is to cut back on the food you eat. Specifically, cutting back on the carbohydrates you each each day should achieve weight loss and better BG control. Determine how many carbs you are currently consuming per day and, bit by bit, reduce the amount of carbs you allow yourself daily until you reach your goal. By losing weight, you may also be able to reduce the total amount of insulin you take.

I would suggest you see a dietitian to help you figure out how many calories you should intake a day. She will also tell you how much you should lose and give you the carb count needed with your insulin dosages. I too can't exercise to the extreme but I do exercise to the fulliest I can right now. My dietian is working one on one with me. I hope this will help you a little…Debe

I would try asking your doctor for a weight loss program. Or, maybe check with your local health dept. and see if they have a diet plan to go by.

I seem to be eating more, but with less carbs. Seems to be working. Lost about 100 lbs in last 2 years. FYI, at my max, I weighted 412 lbs.

I want to commend you on your weight loss that is amazing.
You must be very proud of yourself. I myself have a lot of weight to loose and I give you so much credit. Maybe we can talk about it sometime??
Thanks dyanne

I too feel like a elephant! Have been on insulin for a long time. Cannot exercise a lot because of back problems. Have added more veggies and fiber to my eating plan. But still gained 4 lbs! Am asking my doctor today about Byetta.

I cannot exercise much due to my burning neuropathy in my feet/legs. About 3 years ago I started a meal plan as an experiment and have been so successful I have continued it.
It started out due to a dropping and breaking of a glass vial of NPH insulin. I had to send away for it and decided that I might want to try to manage my diabetes with what I ate and avoided eating, On that meal plan I maintained a BG (blood glucose) level in the normal range, achieved an A1c of 5.5, and lost 65 lbs over the course of 5 mo. (in fact I had to add some fat to my meal plan to keep from getting too thin.

I have written the meal plan as a discussion and will send you the link to it should you reqeust it.

God's best to you

Hi Jay, I would love to see your meal plan! I have struggled to lose 6 lbs and brought the A1c to 6.3. Also, am glad to be your friend.
