It is that time of year again that I always start talking about diabetes awareness month coming up in November. Living with diabetes can be a challenge in itself and can be very hard to share in social interactions with people. HOWEVER, we all need to be spreading the word. People need to understand how hard diabetes is and those of us living with it can be the best advocates. We need more research, more education, more support. There is so much to be done in the world of diabetes. So ask yourself what you can do personally to make a difference during Diabetes Awareness Month and act on it. I would love it if you all shared your ideas here for all of us to help inspire others to join the cause.

I have shared every day so far on Facebook (in my husbands page) and it has surprised me the number of people who have liked things. You really never know how you might touch someone out there.

Facebook is a great way to share information about diabetes and diabetes awareness. I just reposted info about World Diabetes Day on my page hoping to get more of my friends aware of it and participating. Every little bit helps!

I sent messages to the NFL and NBA over Facebook asking if they are going to do anything for Diabetes Awareness Month. I have yet to hear back from them. I guess that's my answer…

I don't have a Facebook page, but I think I will ask my hubby to share on his. I think I will do some kind of photo blog for him to post this year. Our town is just so small, there is nothing organized that goes on.

Maybe we could do something as a group on the 14th?? I know there is a lot of power in this community.

the time of the year I lose friends on Facebook … but I am not deterred … last year I posted a "diabetes fact" every day of the month. looking for something new this year.

Well that is sad...loosing friends over diabetes facts? Those are some pretty shallow friends. But I rather imagine that is the case on most social networks. At least you have us! =0)

"Friends' in the Facebook sense … although all of my "friends" I actually have some connection with.
I post a lot of nutrition and health related stuff that also seems to irritate people. I guess they just don't want to be reminded about healthy things … Oh Well … I ain't changing my commitment to evangelize for good health.

I don't know why things like that irritate people. It's your page to do with what you like. If they don't like it, then they can just move on.
