While looking through my tablet. I ran across this article from 3 years ago. I thought
it might be fun to do it again. I know that I have cravings from time to time. One in
particular is for potato chips. You know, you can't eat just one. Also, I crave coconut
cream pie. Now I confessed, it's your turn. Cravings is quite a natural thing, .especially for us, the diabetic. To eat a small piece isn't always as easy as it sounds.
Tell us hown you deal with this problem, it may not seem like such a big deal for some.
But for most of us, it is no.

So I have recently been added to the T2 list. Only in the past few months, so I am still learning. I have to start some classes next month to learn more about what it means to live with T2. I do know I started checking my Blood Glucose a few times a day the past month.. I have noticed there are a few things I need to change and have started and my cravings for the following foods are where I am currently…

Pizza!
Fresh Cooked Bread covered in Butter.
Cheese and Crackers…

Hi TJ, I know that thongs seem a little confusing in these last
few months but please know. After you have taken classes and
participate and read here on DC things won't seem so strange.
Look at it this way, yes you have a very serious disease that allowed can do some real damage. But, it's also a tome to get
healthy. I am a. T2, when I was dx in 2007 my numbers were
off thre charts. Metformin didn't work for me so almost immediately I went on 2 types of insulin. I gained more weight
I. Ate and ate. I craved everything and throughly felt sorry for myself. Then I got serious. I've lost 72 pounds, and DO NOT
take any medication for diabetes what so ever. I have access to
insulin if I happen to need it. But, I haven't for 3 or4 months. See
there can be light at the end of the tunnel. You'll see we all
crave foods. Try our recipe section and see if can't find substitutes for the almost same things. Good luck to you

Hi…I crave a little bit a stuffed crust pizza. I have done really well as we have not ordered pizza since the end of June. I am very happy with the pizza I make on my low-carb wraps. I am visiting my family in Colorado for the whole month of October so before the wraps I mailed got here my brother ordered pizza for dinner. I had mixed up some tuna fish and had some other low-carb stuff and I watched everyone else eat pizza. I was very proud of myself for doing that. I didn't feel left out as the biggest part of the evening was the visiting with everyone not what I ate.

I absolutely go crazy for Twizzlers and Orange Soda or some juice. They were my best friends before I got diagnosed and they come to visit from time to time after I found out I had diabetes. I love spaghetti squash, but not as spaghetti. I used to be a pasta freak. I ate it almost every day. The squash doesn't work for me. However, I do like it very much with salsa on it. And I like it roasted not microwaved or boiled. Roast it with some olive oil and salt and it's great all by itself or with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Like James said, I find I like the sauce over other veggies, like zucchini, mushrooms, cauliflowr and carrots. I also roast those, toss in some sauce and add some Parmesan cheese and I am good to go.

jayabee52

if it is the sauce you want Heidi, you can open a can of french cut green beans or shred a zucchini and cook those and pour the sauce over them. Those are good substitutes for spaghetti. Spaghetti squash is also a good substitute.

Luckily it is healthy. I crave the ice creaminess and frozen yogurt is.
Since I make cake out of almond and cashew meal/flour, I can have cake for a super or lunch without the guilt. Oh, and cheesecake too, just use cream cheese, Greek low carb yogurt, and some almond meal.
Sometimes it is one part of the unhealthy food I am craving. So if I can find something "healthier" that covers that I can satisfy the craving without taking a BG hit. For example French fries swimming in cheese with sauted mushrooms and onions. I have learned it is really the mushrooms and onions I enjoy the most. So, just make them and don't miss the French fry and cheese part.
Last week I started working on a BG safer version of chocolate chip cookie dough. It consists of cream cheese, cashew butter, vanilla, a little coconut sugar and some semi sweet mini chocolate chips. Mix, chill, and treat myself with a spoonful. Far less carbs than the traditional raw cookie dough, but has all the flavor.
