Last night I went off the wagon. I bought some chocolate covered cashews and was going to have few, but I ended up eating practically the whole can. Today when I stuck my finger at 2PM the number was 101. I hadn't eaten anything or taken my Metformin. At dinner I was going to take a pill, but I forgot to bring it with me. My meal at Bob Evans had 93 carbs so I decided to wait 2 hours and stick my finger again. My number was 105. I still haven't taken the Metformin and don't feel like I am having any problems. My last A1C on August 28 was 5.0 so tomorrow I am going to ask my doctor if I can quit the Metformin.

Spoke with doctor today and he said my blood sugar is good, but the reason he wants me to take the Metformin is to slow down damage to my pancreas as the disease progresses.

I was diagnosed in January. Initial readings were 347 and A1c 11.7. I had an inordinate amount of sugary drinks and bad-for-you food for the previous 3 months. After being diagnosed I switched to diet drinks and unsweetened tea along with watching carbs and calories. A1c in May was 5.9 and A1c in August it was 5.0.

Hi! This happen to me a couple of years ago I had been doing great of taking care of my diabetes and noticed the same thing you did. I was maybe 11 years old an I decided I was no longer in need of medication. I went to the doctors and my nurse said that this happens to diabetics but it doesn't mean your are no longer diabetic, she compared it almost like a vacation. How long has it been since you were diagnosed? I hope I'm not bursting your bubble and it is a misdiagnoses.
