The main objective of diabetes diet plan is to maintain the sugar level in the body. The range of sugar is different for different kind of people like blood sugar ranges for normal person and adults and children with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes.

If you have a vitamin or mineral deficiency, it could be causing problems with your glucose control. For instance, one study found that taking the trace element chromium improved glucose control in subjects who had a chromium deficiency. More studies need to be done. If you choose a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and meat each day, and keep your blood sugar close to your target range, you probably don't need to take vitamin supplements because of diabetes

Howdy Take Care

This is easliy one of the most effective yet often least followed practices in care for diabetes. That is too often overshadowed by medicine intervention with Dr's trying medications like metformin (T2s) and insulin (T1s and T2s) With the T2s I believe the Drs should start with attempting lifestyle modification (excercise and meal planning) rather than just putting a newly Dx'd patient with diabetes on a med like Metformin and the like.

Those on insulin also need to pay attention to their eating as well since often the attitude is: "I can just cover any over eating by injecting more insulin." Yep they can do that but then that simply stores the excess glucose in the bloodstream in the fat cells. Then they complain that they are getting too fat!

I had been entranced by the medical model for a long time, and it was more than 3 yrs ago I discovered a better way of dealing with my T2, and wrote about it in another discussion. The meal plan which resulted is available to anyone upon request.

God's best to you and yours
