This sounds great! No more trying to figure this out. Your meter may be able to help you do it. I don't know about you, but not having to do that kind of math is heaven sent.

"The new Roche meter aims to eliminate the general frustration and potential errors that come with manually calculating insulin doses, which we believe will reduce the risks of taking the wrong amount of insulin – for some, dramatically. According to Roche, 79% of people using the meter feel more confident with insulin dosing, and 52% have less fear of hypoglycemia, based on a survey. A multicenter study also found that 63% of manually calculated insulin doses were incorrect."

A similar meter has been available in Europe for a while now, and our version was made available this spring. I had not heard about it in any of our meter chat. Wondering if any of you have one and how you like it?

Fortunately for me I don't have to inject insulin yet, but the meter sounds ideal for someone like me who has "dyscalculia" (kind of like dyslexia, only with numbers) When I was injecting NPH more than 3 years ago, the Dr set the dose for me.

My pump's (Medtronic Minimed Revel) bolus wizard does this for me based on my pre-meal BG, any active insulin left from a prior bolus and the carb to insulin ratios set in my pump. It's great not to have to do all the math. Nice to see it incorporated into a meter for those on MDI.

I have the same type of pump and utilize the Bolus Wizard as well. I thought at the time that it was a great invention! Now that they have a meter to do this too, sounds innovating and exciting!

I take Lantus at night only so I don't have to do any figuring out. This new item sounds good though.

I have the roche accu check spirit pump combo which utilizes the meter. The difference is, my meter blue tooth to my pump. It is an awesome meter. It also tells u if u have insulin on board. In fact, at Dr appt last week, my Dr gave me the exact meter as a back up.
