So I was completely crushed today after my doctors appt. Diabetes runs through my family and nearly everyone has it. Since I was a teenager I have been really careful about my weight, diet and exercise. I knew the risk factors and ways to minimize them. I have known for years that I was "Borderline." I am pregnant with our 6th baby and have had several miscarriages. I had my glucose test today and the dr said I failed it miserably. I feel so defeated, like all the work I did to watch what I was eating and watching my weight was for nothing. HELP!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Sometimes gestational diabetes happens, even in women who take good care of themselves. Ask your doctor for a referral to a certified diabetes educator and a registered dietitian who will help you figure out a healthy eating plan to manage blood sugar and have a healthy pregnancy. Everything you've learned and done so far is going to continue to be helpful in the future. ~Lynn @Glucerna
