Maybe it's too late for this trip, but perhaps you could work out some smaller away times to show them you are going to be okay. I don't know how long they were going to stay away, and maybe it was actually the party they were worried about, and not your self care? Maybe you could ask them about that? Every parent worries about the "school" parties.

Once you show you are trustworthy out there, that trust should help them feel better. Its scary for them though. They don't want to loose you and even though you are the one with diabetes, they have a whole different set of worries and concerns that maybe you all could discuss so you could see where each of you are coming from.

That day will come when you are on your own soon enough. I was on my own by age 19, and there were many times I missed my parents.

Howdy Denmark
As a parent of 3 sons, I would have hated to have had something bad happen to them. So I can understand their concern quite well. It may be that if something bad happens they are in Sweden (I am guessing that you'd be in Denmark) and there could be quite a bit of time elapse to notify them and then be able to get to you.

I do tend to agree with you on this, however, that you are 17, soon to be 18 and that is the age of emancipation of a minor. It won't be long till you will be on your own, and responsible for your own self.

However since you are still a minor, you do need to follow parents' wishes

Praying you get this resolved
