carbs - fiber

does any one know that you can subtract total fibers from carbs.example 21 g of carbs - 6 grams of fiber = 15 cabs

Yes you do subtract all the fiber from the total carbs and you subtract 1/2 the grams of sugar alcohol from the total carbs!

This topic came up a while ago and you can NOT subtract all fiber from your carbs. The reason is because not all fiber is alike. Some of it our bodies absorb. Standard practice is if the fiber content is greater than 5 gms you can subtract 1/2 of it. So with your example you would only be able to subtract 3 gms making it 18 gms not 15… but still in range of one carb serving.

Yes, and a very good point. Since my Wife normally bolus depending on the carbs (minus fibers) she will be eating, I have to be as close as possible as to not over-insulin.
