Ok so I just moved. Were we used to live we burned our trash. Now I am not sure what to do with my cartage things after I use them… I have a ping pump after I have my site in the little thing I used to put it on… That's what I'm talking about.. I can't think what to call them… :P if I bend down the needle and put the lid back on is it ok to throw away?

Howdy Katie
If it is a "sharp" it is something which are subject to local ordinances about the handling of medical sharps. Some states have relatively lax (or no) ordinances about the disposal of sharps, other states or counties or even cities have quite specific laws about disposal.

My go to site from BD (Becton Dickenson) is no longer working so the best I can suggest is to go through the Google site when queried about safe sharps disposal You can find it here ~ https://www.google.com/search?q=disposal+of+s... Unfortunately you will have to go through the various pages of results and find your state if you can find it and read what is there about sharps disposal.

I pray this helps you

I did as James suggested and then added my zip code to the end of the URL, which helped find local information. This site will also help as it is probably similar to what James used before. I hope it helps!

You click on your state and it gives you the information you need for your state.

In my area we can not burn plastics so my infusion sets get tossed into garbage any needles have to go into a plastic jug with a screw on lid then can be disposed of with regular trash ask your pharmacy if they know locale ordinance on disposal or call your trash company they will let you know how to dispose of them remember if you just throw them in regular trash and cover comes off needle and trash employee sorting garbage gets jabbed you are liable the other thing you can do is local walgreens, rite-aid etc. have a thing to cut off needles and stores them in the clipper then you throw everything in trash and clipper will hold like 500 needles and they cost around 10 bucks
