Well I just got back from my vacation from Gatlinburg,TN and had a great time and while away got a call to place my order for my pump. My insurance paid 100% for the pump and supplies. Awesome, no co-pay or out of pocket. Picked the pink one and the infusion sets. They will be here tomorrow, I am exited and nervous. While on vacation I was so active with the walking and swimming my blood sugar kept dropping in the 40's in the day and night and in the morning they way in the 400's near 500, so maybe when I go back to Gatlinburg for memorial day it won't be like this. I have that kid with a new toy feeling. LOL You know what I mean. Plus on the serious side I think this is just what I need. Wish me luck

congrats on your new pump. i to am on the same pump and we both have the same color pump and my infusion sets are even pink. and your right it does come with lost of stuff but don't get upset if you sugars are still high. i read somehwere in one of the book's they sent with the pump that it could take months to get it where it is supost to be. i have had diabetes for going on 20 years on may 19th witch is my birthday to what a birthday gift i got 20 years ago lol but i was taking 8 shots aday and nothing would work then i finealy got on the pump and was on it about 5 years and almost had it right where it was supost to be and lost my insurance but i had to come off of it because i could not pay for the supplies out of pocket. then just this year i got my insurance back because i had to go on disablity due to all of the complacations i have from the diabetes. i have bleeding behind my eye's. i have no feeling in eiether of my legs, or arm's and i have a fast beating heart. but i hope the pump works out for you. please keep me posted on your progress please hope to hear from you soon and take care

Yeah I have that fast beating heart thing too. Tachychardia I believe it is called. I have a list long of complications other than just the diabetes. Hey but good news, when I went to the Dr. the other day my Dr. said my b/p and cholesterol was perfect. Yeah!!!! I start putting my insulin in my pump Tues, right now it is running saline solution in it. I am doing pretty good working it though. I like it so much better than MDI. Although right now I am having to work both. LOL

We started using the ping with my son, who is 7, and we love it!

I got hooked up last night. It was my first class and I did so well she hooked me up to saline until she gets the Dr.'s orders. I love it. I use so much insulin though I will be changing my cartridge every 24 hours. They said they might get me different cartridges for it. But it is so cool, I did a cartridge change today all on my own with no problems.

Good Eve Catty!

Congrats on getting the new pump. It is going to be interesting hearing about your experiences when you finish your classes and start using it. I hope all goes well for you and that you have excellent results. I am jealous of your vacation. I love that place!

Yeah I live in the mountains so I see the beauty everyday but Gatlinburg has all the fun stuff too. I am going back for memorial day weekend. Thanks on the pump part, it is a real learning experience let me tell ya. I have not started classes yet just the books and dvd and whew… my brain it tired. LOL I read so much one night my eyes criss crossed. I knew then it was time for bed. I will be sharing my journey with everybody who wants to know how it is to be a MDI person to a Pumper so stay tuned.

Thanks everybody for your support I will let you all know how it goes. It arrived yesterday and it came with a lot of stuff. Boy oh Boy did it. The pump is so small and looks like my ipod. It came with so much stuff it was in a huge box and let me tell ya it was heavy and filled to the top. All kinds of infrared equip. and supplies and books, disks, cases you name it and it was in there. I still have not had the chance to go through it all yet. I should be getting my call to start my classes in a couple days and then start my pump. Wish me luck.

YAY CATTY!!!!! This is FANTASTIC news!!!! I'm on a Pardigm Medtronic pump, and hopefully soon they will come out with the test function built right in, that's the rumor right now!!!

Congratulations Catty! I can understand your BS swinging around like that in Gatlinburg with all the walking you do there. Gatlinburg is one of my favorite places. Please let us know how the pump works out for you! I was called back to work by my bank so I'll have Great insurance again. I am seriously going to consider it. I think it would much easier than trying to lug around insulin and syringes and all the supplies back and forth from work every day.

Good luck and I want a pink one too!

Hugs friend, Angie

You'll have to post a review, I am quite interested in that system and would like to hear views from people who use it. I'm especially interested in that system because, if I read it right, they are going to be integrating a dexcom 7 CGM with it in the not too distant future, plus the PDA uses onetouch ultra strips and loos a lot like my ultrasmart! I doubt I would be able to get any pump at the moment but I think in the future it is the way to go. Right now I get 90% coverage and a $100 deductible on any system if I get it through the hospital who provides my medical insurance, so pretty good coverage.

It actually is like the ultra smart but with the remote for the pump built in and a lot of extras to help you calculate you bolous. I will let you know how it goes for sure. I should start my classes soon. Your insurance sounds pretty good to cover 90%, maybe in the future you can start pumping too.

That is so very exciting. And I'm completely jealous of your 100% coverage.

You'll have to keep us posted on your progress. Remember, it can be a little bumpy in the beginning with the pump. Don't get discouraged. You simply need a little time to get everything fine tuned to your needs. Just keep testing and making small adjustments with your doc and trainer.

Best of luck!

Yeah the bad thing is my endo is a long way off. I hope my trainer can handle most. I just hope I can figure it out. I do get discouraged easy but I also am stubborn so I will hang in there. LOL. Thanks for your support.
