Hey everyone, hope you are all having a great Saturday. I thought I would put this discussion up for all the new people here at Diabetic Connect and for those that have been here a while too. I know when you first join it can be overwhelming to find the information you are looking for so we see discussions about the same things over and over again. No offense to anyone, I've done it myself too I'm sure. If you are looking for information on something specific like Gastroparesis, you can go to Search Discussions at the top of the page and type in Gastroparesis and everything that has ever been discussed about it in the past will come up. You can do this for any topic. If you still have questions after reading through things, then you can either bring up the old one again by adding a comment or start a new one addressing your question specifically. I hope this helps you in your navigation of the site.. :)

Have a great day!!!

I am VERY sorry to ANYONE I have come across wrong! I let my emotions out the wrong way and place and I do apologize. I really am sorry! I was crying away after my last post, I don't want to leave the site, I LOVE it here! I am just going thru all this physical crap and miserable and vented at the wrong spot, I am VERY sorry everyone for letting things get out of control! Sheila

Ditto!!!! I agree. It was just here to help some navigate around the site. I feel it wasn't pointing any fingers at anyone…Debe

I totally agree too! :-) I was JOKING that it took me 5 months of being on here each and every day to figure out what Judy posted. I didn't see it directed at anyone personally. It's like alwaystryin, I'm always learning and appreciate the information. Hugs all, Angie

I really find some of these reactions very silly. There have been times where the same question has been asked on the same day, or just a day or two apart. Why would the people who took part in those discussions want to repeat it for each questioner? That doesn't make sense?

I really do not understand your last remarks, Sheila. I don't see you being "targeted" anywhere in this discussion. Where did that come from?

No one needs to be "afraid" to start a discussion. That is ridiculous. But don't be surprised if you don't get any (or many) responses if you're starting a discussion on a subject that has just been discussed.

Come on, folks. No one is asking anything unreasonable. If you truly are wanting thoughts and ideas on a given topic, I would think you would want to look at the past discussions.

Life is too short for people constantly being offended and getting their feelings hurt.

lipsie 2009-04-26 15:16:57 -0500 Report

I feel like I was targeted so I am sorry, won't come back. All I was doing was KINDA feeling her feelings…did not agree fully. I DO SEE YOUR POINT AND AGREE! Sorry, hope everyone does well. Bye. Love yasssss Sheila

This discussion is to help newbies and people like me navigate around the site more easily. I did not no how to get around the site at all. I still don't know how even to add my picture as the staff helped me there. I do not no how to add articles oe new news etc. So I feel this is just a discussion to help others navigate through the site. When I first started here I was visiting everyday but not adding input because I didn't know how so this is also helpful to me to know…Debe

HI! Judy,
I understand what you are saying. But sometimes a new member or someone like my self just wants to know that there is some one who will answer my questions. When we are new there are so many things to learn, a person feels lost. What we need more than answers, is to know were not alone. I still feel that and I'm 7 months into being a diabetic. I'm sick 24/7 from medical problems and it is all I can do is ask my question not hunt for old dialouge. Thank you for listening.

Wow after reading comments on this I am afraid to ask for help now. I have been a type II diabetic for 12 yrs. I have delt with the ups and downs pretty much by myself. I was so hoping this was going to be a place different from out side. I have found some great info. watched some vidoes and made some new friends. I will give it time.. I sincerely hope I haven't offended anyone.

No one here has did anything wrong. I feel what is being suggested is to take time and see if the discussion is already being discussed. I know everyone has questions and I too have done this a lot of times but I now started going through some discussion previsiously discussed. It will give a lot more space for the site. If the discussion gets to long, they ussally continue it on another page. Feel free to add to discussions or start new ones. This was only to help newbies that have question on how to get around the site. I know through my messages when new friends her start they tell me, "I am new ? Need help getting aroiund the site". I have been on here and believe me I am about as clueless as if I started yeaterday. I learn from mistakes and I am learning more everyday how to manever around this site. So this is not saying anyone is doing something wrong, its just telling friends how tyo do something that has been ask to many of us from others…

lipsie 2009-04-26 08:48:56 -0500 Report

I kind of feel the same, its nice knowing our friends currently are out there answering you questions, support from decent people yanno! Sheila

By coming to a site called Diabetic Connect, one could assume that they are not alone in this as there are 1000's of people registered as members. All I was doing with this discussion was to try to help people to get around the site so they can find information that has already been addressed. I knew that someone would take it the wrong way and several of you did. I'm not going to apologize because I didn't put this out here to direct it at any one person. If you chose too take it that way that's a choice that only you can make. We're all here for a reason, we all have the same or similar issues and that's what a support group is all about. There is an old religious saying that speaks volumes here.. "God helps those who help themselves". Given the many positive comments on the discussion it's obvious that only a few took issue with it and that is a personal thing for them. I will say no more and my desire to help others wanes with each negative comment. I hope that those of you who took this with a negative tone will find peace in your life somehow.

Have a nice day

Still a good suggetion, Judy, regardless of some of the comments that have resulted. Some people just don't want to hear that they could be something better or in a different way. But I personally just skip over topics that I know I've seen many times in past discussions. I do not care to write the same responses over and over again. I think folks on here are simply being too sensitive and on the defensive. We can always improve on ourselves and the way we do things.

Woo-Hoo!!! Thats what I have been trying to convey. So many discussion about discussion previsely answer and then some one puts up the same discussion and I seem to want to be friendly but sometimes feel if I don't anwser I am overlooking the discussion, I really am not. I have answered it already. Just take some extra time and go throught older discussions. You may find your answer there. If you search and don't find that discussions it time to start it then. But there are many discussion that were started by other members and bypast because someone put up a new discussion on the same subject.
Just take a few minutes to see if what you have a question on is already up on discussion if not feel free to add on..

alwaystryin 2009-04-25 13:39:44 -0500 Report

Not only a great comment, but a very good idea for perhaps a Site feature. Something to remind us, especially those new, things that are helpful here!

Well put, Judy. New folks haven't had time to look around and see how to do the search, etc., and sometimes the others just forget, I think. There's only so much to say about a given subject, after all. I often just suggest to the new discussion writer that they search for the previous discussions. There's a lot of great info in our previous discussions that new people need to take advantage of.
