This is kind of "Six Million Dollar Man" stuff (boy is that ever a dated reference) But all the techies out there listen up. The FDA has approved this study to be at home and that is huge. It will give a more "real life" view of how it will work for people.

"Participants will wear the system (a Dexcom CGM, Roche Accu-Chek insulin pump, and a cell phone with the DiAs algorithm) unsupervised over an 11-14 week period for 24 hours per day at home – this represents the longest such US trial of this type of automated insulin delivery device."

It would be so great if someone here could get in on this trial. Ground breaking stuff.

I would love to test this baby out! I don't care how bulky it would be! Imagine getting rid of needles for even a little while! It would be a dream come true. Even though I've only been a diabetic for a little over 10 years, it's hard sometime to remember what my life was like B.D., (before diabetes).

Yes I agree that would be great if someone from DC could get on this trial.

BTW: If I remember correctly the 6 million dollar man will be redone sometime in the future. It is supposed to star Mark Wahlburg as the lead role. So what is old is new again! ~

It sounds like a big step for type1 diabetics. I hope it works as well as it sounds to be. It would be great to have someone on this group to get to try it out too. first hand info for all of us.
