well make a long story short i had a infected tooth got it removed at first my numbers were coming back down but it seems everytime i get them down with the help of metformin it just goes right back up. so anyway i would like some suggestions on what type of diet plan to follow. i dont drive so seeing a dietician is out of the question. and i am seeing my new primary doctor on the 11 of this month. it seems my metformin doesnt want to bring my blood sugar below 300. my fastings are always in the 300s . thanks in advance. hopefully with my doctors help i can figure out why my medicine and numbers wont come down.

I have been on Metformin for about 5 years. Then my doctor added a small once a day shot of Victoza. Everytime my numbers came back, they pronounce me pre-diabetic. Miracle! Then I got "smart" and dropped the Victoza. Bad move. My doctor has put me back on Victoza. I guess it's a miracle drug, as long as you keep taking it!

I'm glad you're reaching out for ideas on how to lower your blood sugar levels. has excellent information on medications and how to plan a healthy diet. You're able to get to your doctor appointments, and perhaps you can also find a way to attend a diabetes education class or meet with a dietitian? ~Lynn @Glucerna

I noticed in your profile that you were diagnosed in 2007 (as was I BTW) so my first question would be what diet plan have you used with success in the past? Low carb?

Metformin isn't insulin and doesn't bring sugar down. It helps w liver dumps among other things.
