HELP - Lantus Solostar Pen

Read the instructions, but it is still unclear. When using the Pen with regular syringes, do you still need to dial the dosage, or just insert syringe and draw?

These are emergency Samples we got today from DR.

My son has to dial up his dose plus 2 units that he has to waste… I really do not undertand wasting 2 units, but that is the way he was taught? And that is the way he has always done it…Hope this helps…

The reason for wasting the two units is to make sure the air is out and that you are actually getting the units you inject. This was how it was explained to me.

I was not instructed to waste any units by my Dr.???

I have seen the air bubble but inject with the pen dial pointing up for exactly that purpose. I saw the little bubble and wanted to make sure it's always on the plunger and not at the needle tip.

Does it make a difference that it's a subcutaneous injection with the little air bubble if it did get injected?

I USED THE PEN BUT IT CAME WITH NEEDLES TO PUT ON I WOULD JUST DIAL THE DOES ACORDING TO THE SLIDING SCALE,ITHINK IF YOU ARE USEING A SURING YOU JUS INSERT THE SURING AND WITH DRAW THE REQIRED AMOUNT.YOU NEED
