Just found out that i have type 2 diabetes and taking metformin 500mg, twice daily plus meds for my cholesterol and blood pressure. Haven't started excerising yet but would like to know of any recipes. been getting light headed. for breakfast i have a banana and 3 peanut butter crackers, for lunch i had kfc lunch special, and i will be having some fruits and veggies for my next snack. having hard time finding healthy things to eat that i like. would appreciate all the feedback or suggestions from everyone. thank you and god bless.

TinaMarie, I am of the beleif that you can eat anything you want, as long as you watch the portions. The more sugar, the less you can eat. Sugar = Carbs, carbs = sugar. Remember that. Now, There is a recepie section on this web site that I love to cruise through. It has lots of wonderfull ideas. Please do see a nutritionist as soon as possible so that you find out what type of diet will work best for your situation. Good luck. Keep your chin up and a smile on your face, Fool them all.

Just joined community. Glad to see this topic! Need to lose about 110 pounds…just getting started…have always worried about extra skin hanging—already have a bit of a problem with this…turning 50 in a couple of weeks…don't want to be 51 and this size!

MOVE! i for one hate to work out. I get very bored wih it. But, I find that if I find things to do: yard work, doing extra house work, parking my car and walking to things close on nice days, my wieght comes off.
REMINDER: you need to change your work out after a while. Your muscles become acustomed to the same work outs and you are working the same ones all the time. Find new sit ups, and other things to do to work muscles you have not worked.
Hope this helps.

I worried about having a lot of loose flesh when I lost weight at age 62. But, after loosing 40 pounds, which required a whole lot time and exercising, too, there isn't too much flab. So, my thoughts are to follow what the "experts" say, and to put some aerobic movements if your daily routine to prevent the floppiness.

Lower carb seems to work for me. Its a long term adjustment, but doable is you set your mind to it. Dont think about just the spare tire, you worked hard to put it on, its going to be hard work to take it off. As for extra flap, I lost over 100 lbs in the last 2 years. There is alitle flap there. But My frame can hold some. I guess if I loose about another 50 lbs, I will be at the point where I will need some cosmetic surgery but not till then. Now, it only wiggles when I jump. LOL.
